Prep Baseball Report

Idaho Diamond Notes (March 24-30)

Cam Black-Araujo
Idaho Operations

Each week, the Prep Baseball Idaho staff asks High School coaches across the State to fill out our Player/Pitcher of the Week questionnaire which helps us in our selection process of honoring the top performances. With all of the talent throughout Idaho, it can be difficult to just pinpoint one pitcher and positional player each week so our 'Diamond Notes' articles will serve the purpose of highlighting the top performances that were submitted by coaches.

Keep an eye on our social media accounts throughout the week as each Saturday we will send out the link to the questionnaire with all submissions due at 11:59PM on Sunday.

Below, we'll take a look at some of the top performances across the State over the past week.

IDAHO DIAMOND NOTES: MARCH 24-30

Jackson Gardner RHP / SS / Sugar Salem, ID / 2025

Uncommitted 2025 and former Future Gamer, Jackson Gardner, put together a dominant performance on the mound this past week as he worked five no-hit innings against Jerome HS last Tuesday. Gardner allowed no hits, one run, three walks and racked up 12 punchouts as Sugar Salem won 7-1. With the performance, Gardner has lowered his season ERA to 2.84.

Treyton Swygart RHP / 3B / Middleton, ID / 2024

If it weren't for a perfect game in the State this past week, Swygart had an incredibly strong case for Pitcher of the Week. The Portland commit and West Coast games alum was another big arm in the State to toss a no-hitter this past week and he racked up 12 strikeouts in the process. Swygart didn't allow a single walk, hit or run and the lone base runner reached via a hit-by-pitch. Swygart is one of the most dominant arms in the State and he lived up to the hype on Tuesday as he shut down Bishop Kelly for a 7-0 win. He also went 3-for-4 at the dish with a home run, a double, a run scored and two RBI.

Dillon Fine 3B / RHP / Homedale , ID / 2024

Homedale played just one game last week as they picked up a 12-0 win over Vallivue and Fine was a leader, both on the mound and at the dish. The Utah commit got the start for the Trojans and worked five innings allowing one hit, two runs, five walks and struck out seven. In the same game, Fine went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double, two runs scored, one RBI and a walk. Fine is one of the top seniors in the State and continues to lead the charge for Homedale.

Taylor Stringfellow RHP / 3B / Highland HS, ID / 2024

2024 RHP Taylor Stringfellow was another Idaho arm to put up a 0 in the hit column this past week as he worked 4.2 no-hit innings against Pocatello on Wednesday. In the outing, Stringfellow allowed no hits, no runs, two walks and struck out seven as the Rams won 10-0. He also contributed at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a walk against Century on Friday.
