Updated Illinois Power 25 Rankings

After three weeks of the IHSA season, teams have finally started to accumulate enough games on their schedule to warrant a shakeup to the IHSA Power 25. There was quite a bit of movement throughout, along with six teams making their Power 25 debut.

Climbing
+ No. 1 Nazareth (11-0): A 4-0 week and perfect 11-0 record has the Roadrunners taking over the No. 1 position in the state. This past week, they outscored their opponents 52-7, seeing wins over Holy Trinity 12-0, Monmouth United 15-0, Morton (Berwyn/Cicero) 13-3 and Riverside-Brookfield 12-4.
+ No. 2 Joliet Catholic (8-0): The Hillmen have undoubtedly played one, if not the hardest schedule in the state, and this update has them rising three spots to the No. 2 position. They won the WJOL this past week, their second title in as many years, taking down No. 8 Minooka 5-4, No. 3 Providence Catholic 10-1 and Lockport 6-5. They also defeated a strong Notre Dame Academy club by the score of 12-7.
+ No. 5 Huntley (6-0): The Red Raiders are rising five spots up to No. 5 in the state after going 3-0 this past week. They saw three quality wins, taking down Barrington 4-0, Taft 6-1 and Maine South 4-1.
+ No. 7 Minooka (4-3): The record might not blow you away, but Minooka has had one of the tougher schedules in the state so far. They rise one spot in this update after going 2-1 this past week with strong wins over Joliet West 7-0 and Plainfield Central 7-1. Their only loss of the week came against No. 5 at the time Joliet Catholic 5-4, and one of their other two losses on the year is from JCA as well.
+ No. 8 Downers Grove North (6-1): The Trojans jumped six positions into No. 8 after finishing 2-1 this past week. They saw wins in their spring trip over Liberty Christian 26-0 and Oakland 3-1 - while they also fell to Deerfield by the score of 7-3.
+ No. 10 Lake Park (5-1): The Lancers finished up their trip to Arizona at a 5-1 clip, and they now find themselves up eight spots to No. 10. They saw wins over Shadow Ridge 13-1, Cleveland 7-4, North Bend 16-2, Bend 8-1 and Marist 10-9 - with their lone loss coming against Thurston 5-1.
+ No. 11 Normal Community (9-0): A 4-0 week has the Ironmen rising nine spots to No. 11. They outscored their opponents 30-8, seeing wins over Homewood 10-0, Gardendale 3-2, Oneonta 9-2 and Elberta 8-4.
+ No. 13 Libertyville (5-2-1): Rising three spots, Libertyville finished this past week at a 3-1 clip. Their lone loss was to Hamilton 3-2 - while they saw wins over Mountain Point 17-9, Millennium 6-1 and Santa Barbara 9-8.
+ No. 23 Sycamore (4-0): Sycamore is rising one spot to No. 23 after a spotless 2-0 week, with one of their wins coming over former No. 25 Hononegah 4-2. They also took down Boylan Catholic by the score of 12-3.
Sinking
+ No. 6 Edwardsville (4-5): The Tigers find themselves down to No. 6 after a 1-3 week. They have a tough schedule, so that certainly plays into their positioning, with their three losses coming against Rossview 5-1, Auburn 15-3 and Hoover 3-1. Their win came against the No. 2 ranked team in Tennessee, the Houston Mustangs by the score of 5-4.
+ No. 9 New Trier (3-3): The Trevians finished the week at 2-2 and now find themselves back three positions to No. 9. Their two wins on the week came against Mount Point 10-9 and Horizon 9-7, with their two losses coming against Tualatin 11-9 and Heritage 4-3.
+ No. 19 Brother Rice (2-4): Brother Rice finished this past week at a 1-1 clip and now sit at 2-4 overall. Their win came over Marian Catholic by the score of 7-2- while their loss was to a strong Lyons Township club 7-3.
+ No. 20 Hersey (4-3): Hersey drops back to No. 20 after finishing this past week 2-2. They saw wins over Neosho 10-5 and Webb City 7-6, while they also saw losses to Branson 7-0 and Joplin 1-0.
+ No. 21 Lincoln-Way East (4-4): The Griffins drop 10 spots to No. 21 after going 1-3 this past week. Their losses came against some of the top programs in Kentucky, falling to St. Xavier 8-0 and 4-3, while also losing to Trinity 12-0. Their lone win of the week came against Maine South by the score of 8-2.
+ No. 22 Triad (6-4): The Knights finished the week at a 2-3 clip to find themselves down to No. 22. Their two wins came against Fort Zumwalt East 14-4 and Mater Dei 14-4 as well, with their losses coming against Salem 8-6, Belleville West 8-6 and Wheaton Warrenville South 9-5.
New to the Power 25
+ No. 12 Mascoutah (9-1): Making their Power 25 debut, Mascoutah finished this past week at a 4-1 clip with wins over Althoff Catholic 13-4, Gibault Catholic 13-3 & 15-3, and they also took down one of the top arms in the state with a 4-2 win over Collinsville. Their lone loss came against St. Louis University (MO), one of the more talented teams in the state, by the score of 8-0.
+ No. 14 Lincoln-Way West (6-0): West was a mainstay in our Power 25 last year, and they find themselves right back in the mix with a spotless 6-0 record. They went 3-0 this past week, seeing wins over Westbrook Christian (AL) 6-0, Olentangy 4-3 and Rock Bridge (MO) 9-1.
+ No. 15 Fenwick (6-0): The Friars are picking up right where they left off from a season ago, as they made it to a 3A Super-Sectional. They only played one game this past week, and it was an 8-7 win over Marist.
+ No. 16 Crystal Lake South (6-0): Another 6-0 team making their Power 25 debut, the Gators appear to have one of the more dangerous offenses in the early going, outscoring their opponents by an eye-opening 96-23. They saw two wins this past week, taking down Medina (OH) 9-1 and Wellston (OH) 15-0.
+ No. 17 Monticello (14-0): Boasting a sparkling 14-0 record, the Sages look to be an early favorite to potentially take the 2A title. They won four games this past week, taking down Lincoln 9-1, Champaign Central 14-5, Prairie Central 7-5 and Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 4-1.
+ No. 25 Joliet West (7-3): Rounding out the Power 25 is the Tigers of Joliet West, boasting a 7-3 record on the year. They had a tough week, finishing 1-2, but their two losses came against No. 8 at the time Minooka 7-0 and No. 3 Providence Catholic 10-2. Their win came against No. 19 Lincoln-Way Central by the score of 15-4.
