Commonwealth Classic: Championship Quick Hits

Last weekend was the second annual Commonwealth Classic held on Saturday, March 30, and Monday, April 1, at multiple locations in the Richmond area plus one extra game played in Northern Virginia. Games on the first day of action at each site were at 10 am and 1 pm at Ironbridge Academy in Chester and the evening games were at 4 pm and 7 pm at RF&P and Dorey Park.

The Championship Game was held yesterday at RF&P Park and featured a Richmond area Private vs. Public showdown between Atlee and Benedictine. A game that was scoreless through 4 innings saw Benedictine put together a fifth inning 3-run rally and then add a few tack-on runs to pull to a 5-0 victory behind Ryder Buchbinder's complete game shutout and Will Blatt's pinch hit 2-run home run.
