Recruiting Spotlight: 1B Josh Falk (Minnetonka HS, 2015)

Josh Falk, 1B, Minnetonka HS, 2015

PBR Minnesota attended the MSHSBCA Junior Showcase in Minnetonka last week.  I had the opportunity to see 1B Josh Falk, 2015 grad from hometown Minnetonka High School.  Falk is a 6-2 240 pound two sport athlete in high school.  He was very athletic around first base receiving a variety of throws with ease, showed soft hands on ground balls, and moved laterally very well for a player of his size.  He also showed an above average arm across the diamond.  Falk showed enough athleticism defensively to project that there may be an opportunity to test the waters in a corner outfield spot.  Offensively he has plenty of bat speed and consistently showed good timing allowing baseballs to travel into the hitting area and making solid and loud contact to the pull side.  Here is a look at what is going with Falk this summer.

PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?

FALK:  I’ve received interest from New Orleans, Florida International, Minnesota, Iowa, Iowa Western, and Gulf Coast(FL) CC.

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future?

FALK:  I haven’t visited anywhere yet.  It’s been a busy summer with legion baseball and optional football workouts.  I really would like to make a decision before my senior year.  It would be nice to focus on senior year and not worry about where I’m going to college.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

FALK:  I’m undecided as of now on a major.  I have interest in schools in the South.  Warm weather and ability to work-out more frequently and consistently outside.

PBR:  What are your thoughts on the recruiting process up to this point?

FALK:  I don’t think it’s been too hectic.  Usually once a school calls I will sit down with my parents and talk about the fit of the school and try to decide if it’s something I’m interested in.  Up to this point I have had a good relationship with the coaches and programs that have showed interest.

PBR: What are your goals for this year?

FALK:  To become a better man- work hard, become a better student, do the right things.  I also want to win a State Championship in football and baseball.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

FALK:  I play football.  I go both ways playing Inside Linebacker and Fullback.  Going from one sport to another has been good- it’s keeps me busy and moving around.

PBR: What is your ACT and GPA?

FALK:  I currently have a 3.0 and a 21 on the ACT.
