The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as we have started the '24 CIF High School baseball season Prep Baseball California is now highlighting some of the top uncommitted class of '25 athletes. The players featured are pulled directly from our '25 Class Rankings. These JR year players are ones that college coaches and fans should be keeping their eyes on over the coming months.

We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts and the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on a NorCal '25 INF/C Colby Pudge from Rocklin High School. Pudge is a compact framed LH hitter with some strength across his frame who shows potential in the batters box with an interesting defensive profile. A solid athlete who runs a 7.2 60 time with quickness in his running actions he shows defensive versatility as a solid catch/throw backstop with a 2.0 pop time and accuracy to his throws behind the plate while flashing the footwork/hands/arm strength to play 2B/3B. Where Pudge can separate himself from the crowd comes once he steps in the batters box with a quality LH swing showing good metrics including quickness in his bat path and hands. The path itself shows lift with strength through contact which allows him to drive baseballs to the gaps with carry. He shows impact with a max exit velocity up to 92.2 MPH in Prep Baseball California workouts while averaging 87.6 MPH with 354' as his max distance. With his potential to possibly play a premium defensive spot behind the plate or two spots on the INF dirt and his strong LH hitting offensive profile with some impact to it Pudge is a good name for college programs to add to their '25 recruiting boards.
