Team New Jersey 14U: Game One Recap

In the first game of the 2023 Junior Future Games, Team New Jersey beats team Massachusetts 6-1,  led by two stellar pitching performances from 2027 RHP Nikash Patel and 2027 RHP Justin Kauffman. Patel was effective early for Team New Jersey, featuring a fastball at 77-80 mph with arm side run. Patel paired it with a breaking ball at 66-68 true 12/6 break. The lanky righty went 3 innings,1 earned run, striking out 3 and walking 0. In relief, 2027 RHP Justin Kauffman (Ranney HS, NJ) picked up where Patel left off. Kauffman featured a fastball from 76-80 topping at 81 and curveball  with 11/5 tilt at 66-68 mph. Kauffman went 3 innings, 0 runs allowed, 2 strikeouts and 0 BB. Athletic mover, clean, fluid arm action, short leg lift, stays in line. 

Team NJ played sound defense, only making one error. On the offensive side of things Team NJ  manufactured 6 runs, stealing 8 bases and walking 10 times. All in all, a solid performance from this team. Back in action on Thursday night at 9:30pm EST against Team Wisconsin.
