Staff

The 2024 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at The Spring Fling as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Volunteer State.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Power 25 and much more.

*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Hampton Bulldogs are looking for a bounce-back season after going sub .500 in 2023. A team that has returning pieces from a 2022 squad that saw the Bulldogs make it all the way to Sub-State before losing a nailbiter. Having a solid mixture of both upperclassmen and underclassmen, this is a team that has young talent with plenty of players having meaningful innings under its belt. The Bulldogs seemed to have a strong offensive team from a season before, although top heavy. They really just couldn’t get consistent pitching or hitting together in games, as when they would put up a lot of runs, they would also surrender a lot of runs. With some key parts returning in the lineup, especially returning 3 hitters that batted over .400 off of last year's squad, this is a team looking to rely on those guys to carry the run support. However, they are also expecting a few other names to step-up. The pitching staff will need to prove itself as it lost its three most consistent arms from last year but that also allows plenty of opportunity for newer names to prove themselves and be a guy that this team will need to win close games.

C/MIF Chance Point

Perhaps the best player on this year's squad and looking to lead the charge on multiple fronts, Point enters his senior season with 118 career hits to go alongside 122 career runs scored. Point has 102 career stolen bases with a .424 career batting average and .509 career on base percentage. To say that he will have a significant impact on this year's team will be an understatement.

C/IF Jayden William Kuhn

After an impressive freshman campaign, which saw him hit .411 with 7 doubles and 41 RBI’s, Kuhn is looking to expand on that with more juice and RBI’s while batting in the 3-hole. Also a knack for the dramatic, Kuhn cranked a one-out walk off grand slam over North Green, propelling the Bulldogs to a thrilling 10-9 victory. This is a kid that loves the games, loves to have the bat in his hands in big moments and has a humble confidence about him.

CIF/RHP Noah Nichols

Coming into his junior season after a remarkable 2023 season that saw him hit .422 with a .589 on-base percentage.
