TN HS Team Preview: Northpoint Christian Trojans

Hunter Martin
TN Scouting Director

The 2024 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at The Spring Fling as they compete for a state championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing other pieces of content covering the Volunteer State.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Power 25 and much more.

*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

    TEAM OUTLOOK

Fresh off an impressive 35-6-1 campaign, Northpoint Christian enters the 2024 baseball season with one clear mission: defend their TSSAA DII A state title. High-end pitching will be their team's strong suit with Power-5 arms at their disposal. They also look to have a strong defensive prowess around the diamond with ability behind the plate to dispel any base-runners. They do present some challenges with talented starters graduating off last year’s title team as their pitching depth has taken a hit, and will be relying on some inexperienced in the lineup. If they are able to gel both the upperclassmen with the newer players taking starting roles, the Trojans should be strong once again this season. It all starts on the mound with junior Arkansas commit KL Farr. He racked up an impressive spring and summer this past year that also saw him get the win in the state championship game and the save in the game before to get them there.. He comes in with a fastball that can reach into the low 90’s with late arm-side run. Senior Northwest Community College signee Jace Robinson will take over 1st base full time this season, while also being a go-to arm on the mound where the 6 foot 8 frame gets a ton of downhill leverage. Senior catcher and Jones County Community College signee Seth Giamportone was a middle heart of the order guy last season but likely moves up into the top-middle heart of the lineup. He offers plenty of ability behind the plate and has been clocked in the low 1.9’s on throwdowns the second. Junior infielder, Isaiah Nolan is a do it all kind of talent. He looks to take over starting duties full time this season in the middle infield where he comes with plenty of speed and strength as he steps into the top half of the lineup. Lausanne and Jackson Christian School are improved this season and will provide a challenge for the Trojans as they embark on winning their district yet again. If their starting pitching can hold down the fort in the early half of the season as the team starts to work itself out offensively, they may springboard them into another great season with their eyes firmly set on hosting throughout the postseason and making back to back appearances in Murfreesboro come late May.
