2016 Player Spotlight: Kody Hoese, Griffith HS

By Blake Hibler
Director of Scouting, PBR Indiana

Kody HoeseKody Hoese is a 6-foot-2,150 pound middle infielder from Griffith HS. He is one of the top middle infield prospects in the 2016 class and is currently ranked as the No. 6 overall prospect in Indiana. Hoese possesses everything you look for in a MIF, good wiry frame with twitch, solid footwork, arm strength, and is an average runner for his class.

At the Top Prospect Games, Hoese showed he belonged among the upper echelon of players in the 2016 class. He displayed range, going into the hole fielding a back hand and throwing to second in an effortless, quick motion. At the plate he has a simple approach with a short swing.  He barreled up the baseball and easily handled pitches above 85.

This past high school season Hoese started at shortstop for Griffith HS, and helped lead his team to a Regional Runner-Up finish. In the four team regional he faced Andrean HS ace and a Georgia Tech commit, Zac Ryan. Hoese steadily put the bat on the ball and picked up at least one hit off an 88 MPH fastball. In the second Regional game, Hoese again handled velo off of Western HS ace and UAB commit Ronnie Smith. Smith has been up to 89 mph.
