Corey Stanley vs Jonathan Alder

COLUMBUS, OH – Bloom Carroll came up just short of a state championship last year in Division III as seen here, but in 2014 the Bulldogs showed that they were the cream of the crop as they ran through their competition to a Division II state championship capped off by a 9-0 victory over Jonathan Alder 9-0.

Bloom Carroll jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first.

Senior catcher Jarrett Peters led the frame off with a walk, advancing to second on a single to left by junior Roger Danison. Louisville commit Sam Bordner (junior) walked to load the bases, bringing up talented sophomore Seth Paszke.

The LHH had an infield single to score Peters. After a pop out, a ground out scored Danison to put the Bulldogs up 2-0.

The two-run cushion was more than enough for junior Corey Stanley (pictured right).

The righty allowed just four hits on the night while shutting out a Jonathan Alder team that was making its fifth state appearance since 1998 and fourth since 2010.

Bloom Carroll blew the game open in the third, scoring six runs on six hits.

Roger Danison vs Jonathan AlderDanison (pictured left) roped a lead-off double to right field. After a flyout, Paszke doubled to left center scoring Danison, bringing an end of the day to JA starting pitcher Mitch Eye.

Mitch Lambert greeted relief pitcher Luke Nees with a single to center and Scott Baker roped an RBI double down the LF line. Tyler Sorg followed with a two-run double down the line in left.

After a single and stolen base by Chase Cattran put two in scoring position, Peters reached on a two-out error to plate a pair of runs, putting BC up 8-0.

The Bulldogs got its final run in the fifth on an RBI single by Peters to score junior Tristen Epp.

Bloom Carroll had an impressive tournament run as the Bulldogs outscored its opponents 50-2, including 19-0 at state.
