Shea Kenneally, OF, Lebanon HS, Class of 2016

PBR: Why did you choose Marietta?

Kenneally: Aside from the beautiful campus and the strong academic fit, I chose Marietta because of their special tradition and history of winning national championships. I also feel that the coaching staff will help me reach my full potential as a player.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Kenneally: Evansville, Heidelberg, Baldwin-Wallace

PBR: Where did Coach Brewer first see you? How did your relationship develop with the coaching staff?

Kenneally: I was first seen at the PBR Unsigned Senior event at Wright State this past summer. I took an initial visit and loved everything so I returned for an overnight and then took part in their camp the next morning. After the overnight and camp my relationship with the coaches developed more and more and it was clear that Marietta was the best fit for me.

PBR:  Marietta is a Division III Powerhouse.  How does it feel to be a part of such a great program and instantly be a national contender?

Kenneally: it's exciting knowing that I get to be a part of the tradition that Coach Don Schaly started. I believe that this coaching staff, led by Coach Brewer, will not only help me become a better person, but the best player I can be. Winning is the most fun part of the game, and I'm looking forward to having a lot of fun.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Kenneally: The coaches expect me to come in, compete, push my teammates to get better everyday, and to do whatever it takes to help the program win a national championship.

PBR: What summer team do you play on and how has travel baseball helped your development as a player?

Kenneally: I play for the 18U Hamilton Joes. Playing up a year last summer and playing good competition from teams across the nation has benefited my game substantially in every way.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Kenneally: My dad. He had a near death experience in a car accident early in my childhood and can no longer work so we've been fortunate enough to get to spend a lot of time with each other. He has completely molded me into who I am as a ball player physically and mentally, I couldn't be more thankful for that.

PBR: What were your stats for this spring?

Kenneally: I broke my hand the 8th game of the season and was limited to only 7 games.

PBR: Who is the best pitcher in Ohio that you have ever faced?

Kenneally: My summer team played the Midland Redskins twice this summer in the Connie Mack Reigonal, I am unsure of the pitchers names but they were all dealing. It was fun competing against pitching at that level.
