Q and A with 2013 Lake Erie Commit: Ausitn Previt (Strongsville HS)

Austin Previt, RHP, Strongsville HS, Class of 2013

PBR: Why did you choose Lake Erie?

Previt: I chose Lake Erie because I felt like I really connected with the coaching staff and i wanted to be a part of what they're trying to accomplish there. I really liked what they had to offer academic wise.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Previt: UC, Akron, and a host of other schools

PBR: Where did the coaches first see you? How did your relationship develop with their coaching staff?

Previt: I believe they first saw me in the middle of the summer at a summer league game and again at Buckeye Scout. My relationship with them has been good and Coach McGee was really straightforward with me throughout the process.

PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season?

Previt: Individually I am going to work on both my mental and physical game, and with the help of the trainers at Strongsville develop myself in getting faster and stronger. The goal I think is the same as any program in the state... win a state championship for Strongsville.

PBR: You are being recruited as a two way player.   How much did that affect your decision to commit to Lake Erie?

Previt: It had some impact on my decision towards Lake Erie. I welcome the challenge to help the team anyway I can.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Previt: Last summer I played for the Ohio Longhorns. This summer I will play for the Midwest Pelicans. My most memorable experience this summer was pitching at the University of Louisville.

PBR: What were your stats this spring season at Strongsville?

Previt: I primarily played right field last spring batting .375. I threw 8 innings with 1 win and 12 strikeouts. I had a 2.62 ERA

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?

Previt: I really can’t pick out one guy; I face a lot of good hitters in Ohio.
