Normal Community 12, Decatur MacArthur 12
Normal Community (14-10; 7-2) stayed in the hunt for a Big 12 title by romping past the Generals in Decatur. The Ironmen were led by Jake Gilhaus and Jackson Bronke.Gilhaus had three singles and had two RBI while Bronke had two singles and also plated a pair for the Ironmen.

No. 4 St. Laurence 8, St. Rita 5

No. 8 Mount Carmel 5, Loyola 3
Mount Carmel (19-4; 10-2) pulled within a game of first-place St. Rita with the thrilling win in Glenview. With the game tied at 3-3, the Caravan scored twice in the top of the sixth to put this one away. Scott Kapers and junior Ako Thomas hit back-to-back triples to put the Caravan on top 4-3 and Thomas scored on a Rambler miscue. Jack Pappas fired four scoreless innings in relief at the Ramblers allowing just two hits to pick up the win on the mound.

Providence 5, Brother Rice 1
Providence (16-10; 7-5) struck for four runs in the top of the fifth and went on to defeat the Crusaders in Mount Greenwood. Sophomore Zack Pych put the Celtics up 2-1 with his RBI double. Senior RHP Dylan Rosa walked with the bases loaded. Senior Phil Kunsa was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and sophomore Mike Madej’s sac-fly concluded the four-run Celtic fifth. Rosa (1-1) allowed one run and one hit in six innings on the mound to pick up the win.

De La Salle (16-7; 11-4) routed the Chargers behind a seven-hit shutout from RHP Ivan Guzman (6-1).Senior Glenn Kubek led the Meteor attack with a single double and four RBI.

Fenwick 5,  Bishop McNamara 2
Fenwick (14-9; 9-5) rolled past the Fighting Irish in Kankakee behind an eight-hitter from RHP Jonathan Kagan. Kagan struck out six and walked one. Justin Rodriguez singled, doubled and plated a run to lead the Friar attack.

Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin (23-2; 12-0) smashed SE at Robin Roberts Stadium in Springfield behind a three hit shutout from senior Patrick Kelly (4-0). Kelly fanned three and did not walk a batter. Senior Steve Sartore singled doubled and plated a pair of runs to lead the Cyclone attack.

Springfield 7, Springfield Lanphier 2
Springfield (13-11; 9-2) kept pace with SHG by romping past the Lions at Robin Roberts Stadium in Springfield behind ace RHP Clay Shourd (7-1). Shourd allowed one unearned run and two hits in his six innings of work on the mound. Shourd had 12 punchouts. Junior C Matt Thompson had two singles and two RBI to lead the Senator attack.

Marist 3, Nazareth Academy 2
Marist (13-10; 6-3) scored a run in the top of seventh and went to slip by the Roadrunners in La Grange Park. With the win, the Redhawks replace the Roadrunners atop the topsy-turvy ESCC standings. With one out in the seventh, red-hot Marist junior Ryan Kairis did it again, when he singled home senior Blake Bieniek, who had walked, with the eventual game-winner. Matt McKenzie fired a five-hitter at Naz to pick up the win.  

Benet Academy 6, Notre Dame 2
Benet Academy (14-7-1; 5-3) exploded for four runs in the bottom of the sixth and went on to defeat the Dons in Lisle. Senior Joe Boyle tripled and scored the lead run on an RBI single to right from junior Mike Ryan. Later in the inning senior Anthony Redina crushed a two-run triple to right and he scored on an RBI single to left from senior Chris Whelan. Junior RHP Mike Powers went the distance for the Redwings, allowing two runs and nine hits with three strikeouts to pick up the win.

No. 11 Joliet Catholic Academy 5, Marian Catholic 1
Joliet Catholic Academy (19-6; 6-4) rolled past the Spartans behind junior 2B Rylan Bannon. Bannon singled, homered and had two RBI to lead the Hilltopper attack. Keegan Tyrell chipped in with a single and two RBI and senior RHP Kyle Polaski allowed an unearned run and a hit in four stellar innings on the mound to pick up the win. Junior Nick Dalesandro pitched a scoreless seventh with two strikeouts to pick up the save.

St. Viator 6, St. Patrick 3
St. Viator (18-7; 6-4) swept the Shamrocks away behind Bobby Calmeyn and Joe Brandt. Calmeyn allowed one earned run and two hits in his solid six-inning start to pick up the win and Brandt was 2-for-2 with a double and had two RBI for the Lions.

Prairie Ridge (12-14; 8-5) swept the Golden Eagles behind a three-hit shutout from senior RHP Danny Burris. Red-Hot senior Marcus Sargeant singled, doubled and drove home both Wolve runs.  

McHenry 8, Huntley 5
McHenry (16-7; 9-4) exploded for five runs in the top of the seventh to stun the Red Raiders in Huntley. Junior Jack Glosson’s RBI double to right tied the game at 4-4 and Glosson scored on senior Cody Freund’s RBI single to right to give the Warriors a 5-4 lead. Junior Dylan Weston and senior Ryan Nagel followed with RBI singles and Ryan Grannemann concluded the scoring when he walked with the bases loaded. Granneman also hammered a solo blast for McHenry, who will meet Jacobs in a huge Valley series on Friday and Saturday.

Cary-Grove 7, Dundee-Crown 5
Red-hot Cary-Grove (15-8; 10-3) won for the eighth consecutive time and pulled into a first-place tie in the Valley with Jacobs with this win before the home folks in Cary. The Chargers broke up a 5-5 game when they plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth. With one out junior Matt Sutherland singled and scored the go-ahead run on a booming RBI double from senior Dean Christakes. Christakes would score a big insurance run on an RBI double to right from senior Andrew Splitt.

Lane Tech 7, Northside College Prep 2
Lane Tech (8-8; 7-2) rolled past NCP behind a complete-game victory from RHP Jack Harvey. Harvey, who pitched out of numerous jams, allowed two runs and 10 hits with five strikeouts and six walks. Logan Williams homered and drove home two runs to lead the Indian attack.

Morgan Park 12, Brooks 3
Morgan Park (15-4-1; 8-1) crushed Brooks behind Darius Hill. Hill had two singles and two RBI to lead the Mustang onslaught.

Simeon 8, Jones Prep 7
Simeon (9-5; 5-2) won in walk-off fashion scoring three times in the bottom of the seventh to stun Jones at 81st and Vincennes. Tyler Gordon brought the Wolverines within one at 7-6 with an RBI single. The Wolverines tied the game on a ground out and won it on Dion Earls Jr’s single scoring Gordon with the Wolverine game-winner.

Glenbard South, Riverside-Brookfield
Glenbard South (15-6; 10-1) and R-B were rained out in Glen Ellyn

Illiana Christian 5, Ridgewood 1
Illiana Christian (9-11; 7-2) scored five runs in the bottom of the first and knocked the Rebels (16-7; 12-2) out of first-place in the MSC in Lansing. Senior RHP Caleb Yonkman fired a five-hitter at Ridgewood with six strikeouts. Senior Joe Skrbina singled and tripled home three of the five Viking runs in the first. .  

MID-ILLINI
East Peoria 7, Dunlap 0
East Peoria (12-10; 8-2) jumped into first-place in the M-IC with this win at Dunlap. Senior RHP Brock Stewart fired a two-hit shutout and Mitch Gnehm had two singles and four RBI to lead the Raiders into first-place.

Bartonville Limestone 6, Washington 3
Bartonville Limestone (12-10-2 7-3) swept away the M-IC leaders from Washington (17-8; 7-3) in Washington. The Rockets exploded for five big runs in the top of the fourth and cruised to the victory. Rocket No. 9 hitter Cody Schooly was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.  

Metamora 13, Morton 3
Metamora (16-8; 5-5) scored seven times in the bottom of the sixth to end the proceedings in Metamora. Ethan Skender and Brendan Nachtrieb went deep for the Redbirds.

MID-STATE 6
Peoria Notre Dame 14, Peoria Richwoods 1
Peoria Notre Dame (15-7; 6-0) hammered the Knights for the second straight game to take command of the M-S6. Andy Shadid and Matt Kouri each drove home three Irish ruins. Each had two hits. Shadid had a triple. RHP Kouri (4-1) fired a four-hitter at the Knights with six strikeouts.

MID-SUBURBAN EAST

Elk Grove 5, Buffalo Grove 5 (tie)

Rolling Meadows 4, Prospect 3
Rolling Meadows (11-12;7-4) scored four times in the bottom of the sixth to knock the Knights out of first-place in the MSL-East. Senior Bob Suchecki singled home the tying run and senior Kevin Montero’s sac-fly put the Mustangs up 2-1.Junior Jack O'Neill and senior Alex Niecikowski added RBI singles in the inning.

Barrington (21-6; 8-2) routed the Cougars in Hoffman Estates behind a combined four-hit shutout from junior Anthony Delaurentis and senior Mima Riahi. Delaurentis allowed three hits in his five scoreless innings to pick up the win and Riahi allowed one hit in his two scoreless innings to complete the shutout. Junior Jake Peterson led the Bronco attack with a single double and two RBI.

Schaumburg 4, Fremd 1
Schaumburg (13-4; 8-2) stayed tied with Barrington atop the MSL West standings with the win at home in Schaumburg. The Saxons scored four times in the bottom of the sixth to sweep away the Vikings. Senior Mike Fan tied the game at 1-1 with an RBI single to left and senior Ryan Schocker followed with another RBI single to left to give the Saxons the lead 2-1.Senior Jack Holden singled home the third run of the inning and the Saxons added a fourth run on a Viking miscue.

Last-place Jerseyville scored three runs in the top of the ninth and survived a two-run Indian rally in the bottom of the seventh to pull off surprise win in Mascoutah.

Highland 8, Troy-Triad 6

Highland (15-7; 4-2) scored six runs in the top of the seventh to stun the Knights in Troy. Joe Duncan doubled home a run to make it 6-3 and the Bulldogs pulled closer on a wild pitch. Grant Geppert tied things up at 6-6 with booming two-run double to right. Another Knight wild pitch brought home another run and Matt Augustin’s suicide squeeze bunt plated the final run of the inning.

Rockford Boylan (18-6; 9-2) rolled to its sixth consecutive win, scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth to win in front of the home folks in Rockford. Jack Bruno’s third single of the game plated the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth. Grahm Smolinski’s booming RBI double added some insurance for the Titans in the sixth. Raymon Sagala (1-0) mowed down the Bucs in the seventh to pick up the win on the mound. CORRECTION: In Tuesday’s Daily Roundup we reported that Belvidere North had defeated the Titans 7-0.This was not true as the Titans blasted BN by the 7-0 score.

Minooka (19-4; 13-1) kept pace with Plainfield North behind a three-hitter from senior Mitch Malone. Malone struck out six Panther batters. Junior John Vesper led the Indian attack with two singles and two RBI.

Batavia (18-3-1; 12-2-1) blanked the Maroons behind combined two-hitter from junior Evan Acosta and senior Nick Bleidorn. Acosta allowed two hits in his six scoreless innings with 11 strikeouts and Bleidorn had a 1-2-3 seventh to complete the shutout. Indiana-bound Laren Eustace was 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI.  

St. Charles East 3, St, Charles North 2 (8 innings)
St. Charles East (16-8; 12-6) won an extra-inning thriller at Elfstrom Stadium in Geneva. Junior Reid Olson led off the bottom of the eighth with a single. A fielder’s choice and a single from senior Brannon Barry loaded the bases and brought junior Austin Regelbrugge to the plate. Regelbrugge ripped the first pitch for a single to left, scoring Charles Alex Abate with the Fighting Saint game-winner.

Waubonsie Valley (17-5-1; 12-2-1) rallied past the Hawks, scoring four times in the bottom of the sixth to win in Aurora. Junior Ryan Strick brought the Warriors within two with his RBI single with the bases loaded. Junior Luke Marzano walked making the score 4-3 and senior Tyler Hasper tied things up with a sac-fly. The Warriors would score the eventual game winner on a wild pitch. Junior RHP Jack Bennema fired two scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win.
