Jackson, MS - Thursday the Prep Baseball Report Mississippi scouting staff headed up to Jackson to watch the opening day action of the Mid Mississippi Classic.

The Jackson Academy Raiders claims a walk off victory over Ocean Springs.

Ocean Springs got things moving in the first inning as Britt McKay (Pearl River CC) lead off the game with a line drive single to right field and would eventually come around to score on an error. The Ocean Springs Greyhounds would plate four runs in the first two innings giving them a 4-0 lead that they would cling to for the majority of the game.

2019 RHP Malcolm Beaugez got the start for the Greyhounds and would work effectively through four innings pitching 81-85 mph with fastball, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out five.

2019 JT Carney would give Jackson Academy a chance to fight back throwing for five innings sitting 79-83 mph with fastball, striking out seven and only allowing one earned run. The Jackson Academy Raiders would close the deficit in the fifth posting two runs and would claim the lead in the sixth putting up three and giving them a one run lead going into the seventh.

Ocean Springs would not stop there as they came back out in the top of the seventh and tied the ballgame off the bat of Chance Goley who hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Britt McKay who lead off the inning with a walk.

Jackson Academy would keep pushing as Edwin Smith (Meridian CC commit) records a one out single to keep the Raiders’ chances alive. Following a walk and an error, 2018 Trent Tyre would enter the box and hit a line drive to center field, scoring Edwin Smith and walking it off for the Jackson Academy Raiders with a final score of 6-5.
