JT LaFountain Named Director Of HS Scouting In NY

J.T. LaFountain named Director Of High School Scouting by PBR New York.

Graduated from Proctor High School in Utica, NY in 2000.  Played one year of varsity baseball for Notre Dame High School then three years of varsity baseball for Proctor High School earning Mohawk Valley player of the year honors in 1999 and shortstop of the year in 2000.  LaFountain also helped Proctor to a sectional title in 2000.

From 2000-2005 LaFountain attend and played baseball at the University of Louisville. With a career batting average of .314, 21 home runs, 142 RBI’s on 229 hits and lead Louisville to a regional birth in 2002.  He also earned 2nd team all-conference in 2002, all conference tournament team in 2003 and multiple hitter of the week honors during his stay at Louisville.  He missed his 2004 season due to a torn ACL, but was drafted by the Colorado Rockies that year.  LaFountain returned for his 4th year in 2005 before signing with the New York Yankees.  In 2005 he completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Justice Administration.

LaFountain played in the New York Yankees organization for three seasons playing six different positions.  In 2005 he was between the Gulf Coast Yankees (A) in Tampa, FL and the Staten Island Yankees (A) in Staten Island, NY where both teams won championships that year.  He spent the 2006 season in Charleston, South Carolina playing for the Charleston Riverdogs (Long A).  His last year in 2007 was spent with the Trenton Thunder (AA) out of Trenton, NJ where they won the Eastern League Championship.

LaFountain's responsibilities will range from over-seeing the High School baseball season, scouting staff, and working closely with New York's Director on all aspects of player scouting. This hire allows us to really focus on providing the highest level of scouting information to players, parents, and college coaches this upcoming spring. LaFountain has a decorated playing career combined with an unbelievable passion for the game - this is an exciting addition to our already professional staff.
