Dan Hrbek, SS/RHP, Pleasant Valley HS, Class of 2013

                       Dan Hrbek

PBR:  Where have you decided to attend college and why did you make this choice?
Hrbek:  I have decided to attend Radford University. I chose this school because I love the university, coaches, and baseball program.  I felt I belonged from day one.

PBR:  What other schools were you considering?
Hrbek:  Other schools I was considering were Virginia Tech, Winthrop, Northeastern, and Miami of Ohio.

PBR:  Was distance from home a factor in your decision?
Hrbek:  Distance was not a factor. I always wanted to go south to play baseball so it fit perfect for me.

PBR:  Where did the coaches first see you?  How did your relationship develop with their coaching staff?
Hrbek:  They first saw me play at a tournament held at James Madison University.  I emailed the coaches and visited the campus in July.

PBR:  What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Hrbek:  I will be playing middle infield for them and I will also be used as a right handed pitcher.

PBR:  What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that will help your team?
Hrbek:  I always work my hardest and try to lead by example. I feel this will help the team and my teammates want to do the same thing.

PBR:  Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most memorable experience from this past summer?
Hrbek:  I play for the Evoshield Canes MA 17U Prospects in the summer. My most memorable experience was when we made it to the final four in a tournament at Diamond Nation that had 108 teams in it. We were playing great ball and were having fun doing it.

PBR:  What is your current GPA?
Hrbek:  My current GPA is a 3.1.

PBR:  Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season?
Hrbek:  My individual goals going into my senior year are to work on my weaknesses and keep working hard to get ready for college baseball.  A team goal that I have is to win a conference championship and compete for a district title.
