October 20 Alabama Fall Open Scout Analysis: Outfielders

There were three outfielders that were at Birmingham Southern College to showcase their talents during the workout. The group showed some nice athleticism in the outfield and held their own at the plate as well. Here are those outfielders:

Chandler James (2021, OF/RHP, Sparkman) On the mound, James showed showed a FB up to 77 mph with late ASR from a high arm slot. The delivery is clean and the breaking ball showed slider action with nice vertical and horizontal break at 62-63 mph. The breaking ball showed tumble into RH hitters at 67-68 mph. Offensively, the exit velo was 90 mph off a tee from a slightly open stance with some tilt in the swing path. Really got extended through contact and showed some nice pull side juice with backspin off the barrel. In the OF, the arm strength is nice up to 82 mph from the OF and the ball really seemed to carry out of the hand with accurate throws.

Luke Sibley (2022, OF/LHP, Briarwood Christian) From the left side at the plate he started with a slightly open stance with the feet and the hands set high in the stance. Showed nice ability to hit to all fields but also showed some juice off the bat to the pull side. The bat path is level which consistently produced line drives during BP with some present strength in the hands. In the OF, he moved well on balls off the bat and showed real nice footwork with a quick transfer and a very accurate arm at 78 mph.

Chaseton Dixon (2024, 3B/2B, Dickson County TN) The youngest player at the event, the ‘24 grad shows some athletic actions on the field. At the plate he started with an even stance with the feet and had a middle to oppo approach with the barrel. The bat path was level which resulted in ground balls and tilted line drives during his BP round. There is some athleticism in the hands. Fundamental actions at 3B showing some nice lateral movement and was 70 mph across the infield. In the OF, he showed some raw athleticism that can be developed over the next few years with an OF velo of 73 mph. As he continues to develop, the athleticism will help as he physically matures.

Check back tomorrow as we take a look at the four pitchers that attended the event and only pitched at the event.
