2017 Future Games Workout Notes - Team Michigan

Day one of the PBR Future Games took place today with a position player workout at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana. Team Michigan position players ran 60’s, participated in defensive evaluations, and took batting practice on the field in front of 150 plus college coaches.

Team Michigan position players showed well in multiple areas today and below we take a look at some of the quick hits from the workout:

  • Eight Team MI guys posted a 90 + exit velocity with 2019 C Robert Cavin tied for the overall first lead posting a 100 mph velocity. Cavin displayed that raw power during the BP session crushing several balls to the fence in the deepest part of the park. Has a combination of raw power and quick hands.
  • Six players ran sub 7.00 60 yard dash times that were electrically recorded.2019 OF/RHP Braedon Stoakes posted the fastest time with a 6.62. Stoakes later went on to throw 87 mph from the OF and absolutely crush a few balls during BP. His final swing during BP left the yard.
  • 2020 SS Parker Pilat displayed big time athleticism in the middle infield. Soft hands with a quick first step. A high school varsity basketball player as well stands 6-foot-3, 180 pounds showed above average range and a strong feel for the position. Also posted a 6.73 60 yard dash.
  • 2019 OF/RHP Jon Campbell has an athletic frame and a calming presence as he enters the diamond. May have had one of the most impressive rounds of BP for Team MI. Produced liner after liner at the plate.
  • 2019 OF Nasir Frederick made a name for himself during the workouts. Strong framed 5-foot-10, 175 pound prospect with a lean muscular build showed out during the defensive assessment. Covered ground while throwing accurate 87 mph darts to home plate. Posted a 94 mph exit velo and barrelled several balls during BP. A good feel for the barrel and fast hands are a great combination.
  • 2021 SS Alex Mooney is the youngest player on Team MI not entering high school until this Fall, but you would not know unless you were told. He holds his own with some of the best in the country. Ran a 6.85. Displayed smooth infield instincts while ranging well both up the middle and to the hole. Line drive hitter worked gap to gap driving the baseball.
  • 2019 OF/RHP Tyler Hegelson has a long wiry frame standing 6-foot-4, 180 pounds. Showcased an uphill swing with good pop taking several balls to and off the fence on the pull side. Ball jumps off his bat. Moved well in the OF using his length to cover ground.
