Lee's Summit West Plays Raymore Peculiar to help Fight Childhood Cancer

In their effort to join the battle against childhood cancer, the baseball teams of Lee’s Summit West and Raymore Peculiar High Schools have committed their conference baseball game to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Lee’s Summit West High School, 2600 SW Ward Road, Lee’s Summit, MO 64082.

For the past five years, the Lee’s Summit West and Raymore Peculiar High School baseball teams have dedicated their conference game to raise money for cancer research. Because of ALSF’s affiliation with the Kansas City Royals, the Lee’s Summit West and Raymore Peculiar baseball teams chose to support ALSF and childhood cancer research for this year’s game.

All proceeds from game admission and concessions sales will go to ALSF. There will also be a silent auction and raffle at the conference game. Laurence Leavy, better known as the “Marlins Man,” will be speaking at the event. Both baseball teams hostedlemonade stands at local HyVee stores. The teams hope their combined efforts will raise $9,000.

About Childhood Cancer
Childhood cancer is a general term used to describe cancer in children occurring regularly, randomly and sparing no ethnic group, socioeconomic class, or geographic region. Childhood cancer extends to over a dozen types of cancers and a countless amount of subtypes. Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer.
