Massachusetts Spotlight Game: Dexter vs Lawrence Academy

Groton, MA – Two of the top teams in the Independent School League squared off on a warm, sunny day at Lawrence Academy's home field in Groton. The Dexter School was able to come away with the win against the Lawrence Academy Spartans by a score of 3-2, thanks to 10 strikeout performance by RPI commit Chris Grome and some timely hitting by the middle of their order.

After being shut down the first time through the order by the Spartans pitcher Dom Murgo, Dexter's cleanup hitter, Ryan Hernandez (Albany commit) was able to get them on the board first in the top of the 3rd with a double to the wall, which scored a run and started the rally for Dexter. Wake Forest bound Chris Lanzilli added to the big inning by driving in a run with a deep sacrifice fly.

Lawrence Academy's offense had to face a real tough pitcher in Chris Grome (RPI commit), and struggled to get much going offensively against him. Their only run against Grome was unearned.

Jordan Kjoniksen was one of the few bright spots for the Lawrence Academy lineup as he singled off of Grome then also drove in a run late in the game.

• Chris Grome: Got the win on the mound for Dexter after pitching 5 strong inning while striking out 10.
• Chris Lanzilli: 1-2 at the plate with an RBI double down the line and successful sacrifice fly.
• Connor Bowman: 2-4 at the plate with 2 singles and a run scored. Also threw out a runner from behind the plate.
