Massachusetts Spotlight Game: Lawrence vs Billerica

Lawrence, Ma. – On a cold and windy night game the Lawrence Lancers took on the Billerica Indians which would see Billerica score late and pull away with an 8-2 victory.

Lawrence sent their best arm to the mound in junior lefty Jario Vasquez while Billerica sent junior righty Billy Rose to the mound.

Lawrence would get on the board in the bottom of the second as senior Alex Almonte (St. Petersburg College commit) would lead off the inning with a double and score on a sac fly by senior Andy Acosta.

Lawrence would add one more in the bottom of the third. Billerica would then go on a scoring frenzy as they added two in the fourth and fifth and would pull away with four in the six as senior Alex Cruwys would hit a triple deep to center field to score two. 

Top Performances on the day:

+ Alex Almonte: Big and physical right handed bat who showed patients at the plate as well as the ability to drive the ball with some power. Had a double, walk, and RBI.
+ Jario Vasquez: Lefty arm that showed solid control and the ability to pitch out of jams. Mixed pitches well and wasn’t afraid to attack hitters in and out.
+ Billy Rose: Strong outing to give Billerica a chance and keep them in the game. Made the Lawrence batters put the ball in play and attacked each hitter.
