SAN ANTONIO - It was a gorgeous evening at the new Northeast ISD Sports Park for the midweek matchup between the Chargers of Boerne Champion and the Brahmas of MacArthur before the teams prepare for another dense schedule of games at tournaments over the weekend.

The story of the night was the Boerne Champion pitcher, uncommitted senior RHP Ian Weil, who was in control from the very first pitch, dominating with control, attacking the zone for every hitter throughout the lineup, and ending with the complete game shutout over seven innings. Weil struck out nine Brahma hitters while allowing only three hits and not walking a single batter. Out of the 24 batters that he aced, he executed with 18 first-pitch strikes. Weil has very smooth actions on the mound, working from the first base side of the rubber, and throwing for a ¾ arm slot with leveraged shoulders to be perceived as higher. He has consistent tilt on his fastball and commanded the glove side well at 83-85, with occasional sink. Weil threw a changeup that had late arm-side action at 80-81 and his curveball, with its 11/5 shape, was late to break with tight actions at 73-75. He worked with an easy tempo, and managed to control the flow of the outing.
