The Prep Baseball Report’s Denver Metro Prospect ID took place Tuesday June 23rd at Grandview High School. 25 prospects completed a pro-style workout for the PBR Colorado's Scouting Staff, several of whom are new to the staff.

Over the course of this week we will break down the performances of the prospects by position.  Continuing our look is the outfield position.

Outfield Analysis:  Best of the Best

Travis Parker, 2016, Grandview High School, OF
Parker showed well in all facets of the game. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound prospect ran a 7.34 60-yard dash, threw 88 mph from the outfield and showcased a 79 mph bat exit velocity. Parker showed good skills in the outfield getting behind the ball and in proper throwing position.  At the plate he his from a wide stance and uses a high leg kick for timing.  He stays on his backside through the swing and a strong lower half creates good bat speed and balls that carry into the gap.

Best of the Rest:  Listed Alphabetically

Bryan Boatman, 2017, Palmer Ridge High School, OF/RHP
Boatman ran a 7.21 60-yard dash, threw 75 mph from the outfield and displayed a 82 mph bat exit velocity. Boatman showed athletic actions and good carry on his throws from the outfield. Offensively, he used a wide  stance and an explosive lower half to generate barrel whip. He displayed the ability to square the baseball consistently and some power potential to the pull side.

Blake Donels, 2017, Valor Christian High School, OF
Donels is an athletic 5-foot-10, 185-pound prospect who ran a 7.31 60 yard dash. Donels showed fluid actions and a 69 mph throwing arm from the outfield. Offensively, he used a slightly open stance and stayed behind the baseball effectively creating barrel whip with a bat exit velocity of 88 mph. He consistently lined baseballs to all fields in a solid round of batting practice.

Thomas Fox, 2017, Bishop Machebeauf High School, OF/2B
The 5-foot-9, 185-pound prospect ran a 7.85 60-yard dash and showcased an 81 mph bat exit velocity.  Fox has a strong lower half to his swing and creates good barrel whip leading to the ball jumping off his bat when he squares the baseball.  From the outfield he threw 78 mph and showed good fluid movement to balls left and right.  Fox had a solid showcase and good improvement from when we saw him in January.

Garrett Gipson, 2017 Grandview High School, OF/3B
5-foot-9, 162-pound junior ran a 6.82 60-yard dash, the top time for this event.  He threw 72 mph from the outfield and showcased an accurate arm both to the base and to the cut off position.  At the plate Gipson hits from a balanced stance with a double toe tap for his load.  A slight bat wrap at the beginning of the swing puts his hands at the top of the zone.  He has good hands on balls in and good power to the left-center gap.
