Season Outlook
Head Coach Ryan Voran will return five starting position players and six pitchers who threw significant innings in 2015.  Halstead will rely on heavily on two of those returners who earned Honorable Mention All-League awards last year, junior RHP Chase Van Steenburg and senior UT Trevor Thomas. The Dragons will have to replace senior OF Blake Beckett who is out with an ACL injury this spring.  Beckett hits at the top of the line up, scoring 25 runs and driving in 14 last spring.  He also finished with a 1.09 ERA last season.  Layke Heimerman will be called on to carry the load behind the plate season and play a key role in the teams success. Look for Tate Kaufman to have an increased role this spring, while junior Jacob Witt and freshman David Schulte look to step in an fill out the varsity roster.  In 2016, the Dragons look to take last year's success to the next step.
