Name: Aaron Hedgecock
Position: RHP
Grade: 2015
Height/Weight: 6-foot-2/185-pounds
High School: Butler
Ranking: No. 17 in Kentucky's 2015 class

Scouting Notes: 6/18/14 - 6-foot-2, 185-pound, strong frame with some projectability.  On the mound has shown a big increase in velocity over the last year, arm has gotten significantly quicker using medium arm action through a high ¾ slot, fastball showed some late arm-side run and sink at 85-87 mph, struggled with command of 73-76 mph breaking ball burying most in the dirt, good arm action on 77-78 mph changeup that was mostly straight on this occasion, struggled with overall command early but settled in to allow one hit and strike out 2 of the 5 hitters he faced, Hedgecock has added a solid 8 mph to his fastball since we first saw him last summer.

PBR: What schools have you been hearing from?

Hedgecock:  I've talked to a lot of schools but mostly JUCO and NAIA schools. I've talked to Rend Lake, John A. Logan, Walters State, Pasco Hernando, Pikeville, Tusculum University, Bellarmine, and Cumberlands (Kentucky).

PBR: Have you developed a relationship with any specific coaches?

Hedgecock:  The only coach I'd say I really have a relationship with is Pikeville. On my visit I found out we both know some old Butler players and didn't even talk about baseball a whole lot which was pretty nice.

PBR: Have you taken any visits? If so, please describe each visit.

Hedgecock:  I've taken visits to Bellarmine, Pikeville, Rend Lake, and John Logan.

Bellarmine: I set up a visit with the school and then met up with the coaches later on. It was nice to see literally everything they had to offer academically. When I met up with Coach Davis and Coach Owens they summarized the whole program. They broke down the workouts, roster, and schedule an I had a great time.

Rend Lake: I met the head coach in the indoor facility on campus. When I arrived I got to see their workouts in action and see some former teammates. After that I threw a quick bullpen and went on my campus tour with my dad and two players. When we got back to the facility we sat and talked to the coach about cost and places to stay. Coach Etner is probably the most likable coach I've talked to.

Pikeville: This was my favorite visit. We took our tour right when we got there. After that I suited up and threw a pen with 3 of the coaches. When I was done we sat in the dugout and ate pizza while talking about finances and they would send me an offer within a few days. After that I got to see the basketball team play in their huge gym. I got to come down on the court and talk to the president and VP of the school.

John A. Logan: This is the school I visited most recently. I got there and went through the athletic building with the coach and then sat down to talk about cost. After that we visited the rest of the campus including the professional, all turf field they play in sometimes. This seemed like the biggest junior college I've seen especially since it is next to a big D1 school.

PBR: Do you have any visits scheduled?

Hedgecock:  At this point I don't have any more visits scheduled.

PBR: Do you have any offers at this stage?

Hedgecock:  I have offers from Bellarmine, Pikeville, Rend Lake, and John Logan.

PBR: Do you have a timeline for your recruitment?

Hedgecock:  I don't have a set date for when I want to commit but I want to try to be done before February so I can relax and focus on baseball.

PBR: Do you have a favorite at this stage?

Hedgecock:  I wouldn't say I have a favorite. I'm just now starting the ruling out stage in this process. I wanted to see all the options before I ruled anything out.

PBR: How has Prep Baseball Report been able to help you in the recruiting process?

Hedgecock:  PBR is the best thing that could've happened to me recruiting wise. It has helped get my name out during the season and in the summer in the showcases. I've had a few coaches say they saw me at showcases or saw my video on the website. The Twitter page has gotten me a lot of exposure and has helped me out a ton.

PBR: GPA/ACT/SAT?

Hedgecock:  GPA: 2.7, ACT: 22
