Jeremy Lakes, SS, Madison Central HS, 2015

Lakes is a 5-foot-9, 150-pound prospect who showed good athleticism and arm strength at the Unsigned Senior Games Event in August.

Offensively, the right-handed hitter hits from an open stance and uses a leg kick with a short stride.  He generates average bat speed and is a line drive type hitter whose offensive game will benefit from added strength to his frame.  He finished the Unsigned Senior Games event going 0-for-5, though he did make solid contact on a few occasions.  He posted an 81 mph exit velocity and 4.59 home to first base time.

Defensively is where Lakes really shined at the event.  He showed very good infield actions and possesses soft hands to go along with quick feet.  Lakes shows good lateral movement and body control with the ability to throw accurately on the move from different arm angles.  He showed plenty of arm strength for the shortstop position at 84 mph across the infield.

Lakes is definitely a player to keep an eye on this spring.  He is a college-level defender with upside to his offensive game.
