With playoff season of the 2016 season just around the corner, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana has updated its Power 25 team rankings.

+ Teurlings Catholic takes over the number 1 overall spot as they have jumped out to an impressive 23 and 3 start. Led by ULL commit, Hayden Cantrelle, LSU commit, Nick Webre and LSU-Eunice commit, Austin Kirkpatrick they have shown to be explosive offense to this point in the season. They like to run, bunt and put pressure on opponents defenses, as well as playing solid defense and solid pitching. They are the clear front-runner for the 4A state championship, and will be a tough upset come playoff time.

+ Brusly rises all the way to number 4 in the overall rankings as the Panthers have jumped out to an eye opening 28 and 2 start. The Panthers have shown to be deep on the mound with a quality depth of arms, as well as being an explosive offense. To this point in the season they are outscoring their opponents 278 to 60.

+ St. Thomas Aquinas continues its rise in the overall rankings, checking in at number 6 in this update. The Falcons have gotten off to a nearly flawless start at 21 and 1. They have gotten outstanding and consistent pitching to this point in the season, as well as manufacturing enough runs offensively to put themselves in position to play with the best the state has to offer.

+ Lafayette gets the nod as the top 5A team, and check in at number 2 in the overall rankings as they sit at 18 and 6. They have quality arms that include the likes of LSU commit, Miguel Reyes and 2017 RHP Bo Hardin, who has thrown 3 straight complete game wins. As is always the case, 5A will be extremely competitive come playoff time, but Lafayette is set up nicely to make a deep run with the quality starting pitching they possess.

It’s the most exciting time of year if you are a Louisiana high school baseball fan, as teams are making that final push heading into the playoffs.
