2016 Spring Team Preview: Armada Tigers

Team Name: Armada Tigers
Head Coach: Joel Hoover, 42-17
Division: II
2015 Record: 21-9
Conference Record: BWAC, 11-3
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 1/1

2016 Team Strengths:

  • Pitching

2016 Team Weaknesses:

  • Leadership

Coach Outlook: We will be a very young team with some very young talent, but our seniors from last year left a lasting impression on competition and preparation. Our young arms and bats will take some time to adjust to the speed of the varsity game but I think with our talent we should still be able to contend for a league/district title.

Top Returning Players:

  • Cam Hart, UTL, SO, 6’3” 180, R/R, .300 BA, lone returning starter
  • Mitch Ruczynski, SO, 5’8” 175, R/L, spot started on varsity as a freshman, threw very well, has great pitch control and command, high baseball IQ, good defensive 1B

Top Underclassmen:

  • Adam Job, OF/P, SO, 5’9”, R/R, great outfield presence, great first step, tracks ball well, great student
  • Logan Newlands, P/UTL, SO, 6’1” 190, lively arm, strong body
  • Tommy Killop, P/INF, SO, 5’10” 190, strong arm, high baseball IQ, great student on field and in classroom, short swing, quick hands through the zone
  • Kade Cohoon, INF, FR, 5’6” 160, quick feet, quick release, strong arm, strong swing, high baseball IQ, great student
