The North Carolina high school baseball season is full swing with conference play underway across the state.  Prep Baseball Report is teaming up with the North Carolina Baseball Coaches Association (NCBCA) to produce a bi-monthly poll, ranking the top teams in each of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s (NCHSAA) four classifications.

In conducting the poll, Prep Baseball Report (PBR) is organizing a group of high school coaches that cover each classification and each of the eight regions of North Carolina.  PBR organizes information for the coaches to utilize during the voting process.  Every other week, PBR will gather the votes from the coaches on the poll, and put together the Top 10 from each classification.  You can see the poll published on March 14th here.

As the second poll of the year is published, there is some movement as the coaches begin to learn about the teams across the state, seeing them play, and speaking with coaches that have seen top teams.  The poll should continue to be fluid in the coming weeks, especially as teams dive further into conference play.

This week there is movement across all four classifications.  The No. 1 ranked teams in each classification remain the same with each increasing their strong hold on the top spot.  There are new comers to each poll.  The 3A poll welcomes 10-2 Asheboro HS, while the 2A and 4A each welcome three new teams.  The 4A poll has the biggest shake-up with East Forsyth HS moving to No. 3 after not being ranked on March 14th.  That poll also has New Hanover HS and Fuquay-Varina HS join the top 6, after being unranked.
