Dan Cevette
Director, New York

PBR New York sat down with the sleek fielding Kyle Ruth to get the inside scoop on his recruiting process.

Name: Kyle Ruth
High School: Colonie Central High School
Position: SS
Commitment: Long Island University-Brooklyn

Ruth's Top Three: LIU-Brooklyn, Saint Josephs, Central Connecticut
Top Offer: LIU-Brooklyn

PBR:
When did you start looking into schools?

Ruth: I started looking into schools the summer going into my junior year.

PBR: When did you go on your first college visit?

Ruth: I went on my first recruiting visit in February of my junior year, and I also received my first offer.

PBR: Do you think showcases are necessary for players looking to pursue a collegiate baseball career?

Ruth: Yes, showcases are a good way to put you on the radar for coaches.

PBR: How did you land at your commitment?

Ruth: Coach Trezza saw me play in New Jersey, and at the time I was looking at a lot of other schools. When he contacted me, I liked the things he said, I liked what he wanted to do with the program at LIU and the energy he had. After about a week of talking and a visit to campus I committed.

PBR: What words of advice would you give for the upcoming classes based on your recruiting experience?

Ruth: Never say no to any school even if you're not 100% interested. Go to as many things as you can that you feel are necessary and will help you. Get on a summer team that will make you better and help you along the way as well. Be proactive about the process.
