The Prep Baseball Report staff has finished their pitching reports from Oct. 26th in Setauket NY. Here is an in-depth look at the pitchers that attended our Last Chance Showcase

Brian Ricker, LHP, Rocky Point HS, NY (2015)
Ricker stands 6-foot-2, 185-pounds with a great pitchers frame. On the mound he uses a smooth delivery, balance over rubber, shoulders slightly down, throws from a high-3/4 slot. Fastball sat 75-78 mph with arm side run, slight action. Curveball has early 1/7 shape, sat 59-64 with fastball hand speed. Changeup sat 63-66 mph, some slowing of the arm, late down action. He has a closed landing with a recoiled upright landing. Needs to finish with more extension.

 Christian Mateyunas, RHP, Northport HS, NY (2015)
Mateyunas stands a towering 6-foot-5, 220-pounds with a solid pitchers body. On the mound he uses some rhythm in his delivery, balance, shoulders stay level on target, throws from an over-the-top slot. Fastball sat 82-84 mph from a loose arm, heavy late action. Curveball sat 68-72, 12/6 shape, sharp action showing ability to spin ball well. Changeup showed gradual fade arm side, 70-73 mph near fastball hand speed. Used an athletic finish square to his target, has velocity projection, interesting 2015 unsigned senior still available.

Michael Martinez, RHP, Paramus Catholic, NY (2016)
Martinez stands 5-foot-11, 180-pounds with an athletic build. On the mound he uses a choppy rhythm, shoulders get uphill some, good alignment. Throws from an over-the-top slot, fastball sits 80-82 mph with slight action downward sink, long arm action, quick arm speed. Curveball sits 69-72 with gradual 11/5 shape, showing fastball hand speed. Changeup had some funky cutting action to it, sat 71-74 mph near fastball hand speed. Finish is athletic and complete, lands square on target.

James Loesch, RHP, Shoreham-Wading River HS, NY (2016)
Loesch stands 5-foot-10, 170-pounds with an average build. On the mound he uses a smooth delivery, level shoulders, weight drifts some towards first. Throws from a mid-3/4 slot, fastball sits 74-76 mph, curveball sat 62-65 with different shapes, 12/6 and 11/5 late bite. Changeup sat 64-66, when he used fastball arm speed the ball really dove, plus pitch for him. He uses a complete athletic finish.

John Braun, RHP, Comsewogue HS, NY (2016)
Braun stands 5-foot-10, 145-pounds with a lanky athletic build. On the mound he uses a smooth delivery, level shoulders, falls some towards 3B, short arm action, throws from an over-the-top slot, fastball sits 77-79 mph with heavy action. Curveball sat 67-69 with downward sweeping action, gradual shape. Needs more hand speed for more spin. Changeup settles in around 70 mph. He lands stiff on front side, finish falls off, needs more extension out in front.

Noah Hutter, RHP, Marlboro HS, NJ (2017)
Hutter stands 5-foot-10, 170-pounds with an athletic lean look. On the mound he uses a slower delivery, pulls on front side, long free back arm action, throws from a mid-3/4 slot. Fastball stands 73-75 mph with some arm run. Curveball sits 67-70 with 12/6 sharp shape. Changeup sits 68-70 with some sink, near fastball arm speed. Landing is square with a complete finish.

Jeremy Bello, RHP, Marlboro HS, NJ (2017)
Bello stands 5-foot-9, 140-pounds with a strong lower half, athletic build. On the mound he uses a smooth delivery, level shoulders. Drives hard towards home, free arm action, throws from an over-the-top slot, fastball sits 76-77 mph and fills up the strike zone. Curveball sits 63-66 12/6 shape, changeup rides in at 68-72 mph, late action, fastball hand speed, plus pitch. He uses a balanced landing, finishes over front side.

Jonathan Warasila, RHP, Patchogue-Medford HS, NY (2015)
Warasila stands 5-foot-10, 180-pounds with an athletic, strong lower half. On the mound he uses a fast but balanced delivery, level shoulders, short arm action, fastball sits 77-79 mph with heavy action. Curveball sat 66-69 mph with 10/4 sharp shape, plus spin. Changeup sat 72-74 with some fade and sink arm side. He uses a balanced finish with good extension.

Nicholas Lamari, RHP, Fordham Prep HS, NY (2017)
Lamari stands 5-foot-8, 160-pounds with smaller athletic build. On the mound he uses a slower start to his delivery but shows max effort from balance point to release. He uses a short arm action, throws from an over-the-top slot, fastball ranges 73-76 mph with sink. Curveball sat 63-65 with 11/5 gradual shape, changeup sits 62-65 with near fastball hand speed, some fade. Stiff finish, needs more loose extension out in front.
