Benjamin Ellsworth, 1B, Ballston Spa HS, NY (2016)
Ellsworth stands a solid 5-foot-11, 185-pounds. At first base he gets off the bag well, fields out in front of his body, turns the right way, lines his body up to his target, clean exchange, short arm action, throws from a mid-3/4 slot with infield arm strength at 78 mph. He also showed versatility playing 3B showing the ability to make plays, instinct type of player. At the plate his setup is upright. On the pitch he uses a back load, short stride, powers his hands to the ball (80 mph exit velocity) long path, uphill bat plane, long extension out in front, high finish. He ran a 4.43 home to first time, pro agility time was 4.5.

Analysis:
Ellsworth attended our Last Chance Preview at All Stars Academy this past October where he was easily one of our top offensive players. Seeing him play on several occasions throughout the summer he has the potential to be a big time offensive threat. His swing is short to the ball and stays long through the zone generating a tremendous amount of pop. On the defensive side of the ball I project him as a first baseman, he has good hands and good footwork and with some offseason agility work I can see his whole game improving tremendously. This is a 2016 grad you want to keep an eye on.
