Victor Stuns No. 1 Shenendehowa in State Finals

Dan Cevette
New York Scouting Director

Shenendehowa has had a dream season where they have steam rolled their opponents, normally with comfortable leads. Victor HS has been good in Section 5, sometimes great rising up our power rankings to No. 4 in all of NY before losing two games in one weeks time to push them back to No. 14. Baseball is a funny game, a great game, and a game that is needed to be played on the field but always speculated on paper. On paper Shenendehowa had this Class AA title all but in the bag, Victor HS had other plans Saturday afternoon, on the newly built Turf Stadium at Maine Endwell HS, NY.

Victor's Bats were all over Shenendehowa's starter Aaron Kalish pounding out eight hits scoring three runs. Joe Carrier (Victor) went 2-4 swinging a hot bat, and Dale Wickham (Victor) the game MVP was unreal at the plate going 3-4 with an RBI. Mike Wagner (Victor) went 2-4 as well with an RBI. On the bump Wickham was masterful going the complete game allowing only five hits to a powerful lineup in Shenendehowa. Wickham threw 72% strikes, and only needed 72 pitches to throw a complete game showing how efficient he can be. He only gave up one walk while punching out two respectively.

Joe Carrier went 2-4
Dale Wickham went 3-4 with an RBI
