Tournament 12 at the Rogers Centre: Game Eight

By Chris Kemlo

Ontario Green (2) vs. BC Orange (2)

The final game of the day turned out to be a pitchers duel between Ontario Green and BC Orange.

On the mound for Green was Jack Caswell, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound lefty out of Brampton. Caswell worked three innings, giving up two hits, one run, two walks, while striking out two. Caswell moved his 81 mile an hour fastball in and out, threw his curveball for strikes, and was able to keep BC hitters off balance.

After Caswell was done, 2015 right-handed pitcher Liam Munshi took the mound and was very efficient in his three innings. Munshi gave up one earned, on one hit, two walks, and three strikeouts. Munshi showed good poise on the rubber, being able to work himself out of situations with runners on late in the game. Munshi plays for the Ontario Blue Jays.

At the plate, Ontario’s hitters seemed overmatched at times against BC’s hard throwing righties. Limited to only three hits, they were able to put two runs up on a Tristan Pompey RBI single. They struck again with a quality at-bat by Elliott Curtis to put the ball in play and bring the runner in from third on a 5-3 groundout to tie the game up.

Max Wright and Royce Ando had the other two hits. Ando stole second and third to put himself in position for Pompey’s RBI single.

2015 outfielder and right-handed pitcher Austin Oulds finished things off on the mound for Green working the seventh and final frame. Oulds was in the low 80’s with his fastball, and was clocked at 6.65 when he ran his 60 on scout day.

Next up Green will take on Atlantic at 10:30 am on Friday.
