Class of 2013 Makes Immediate Impact in the PSAC

Mother nature was not kind to the high school baseball schedule across Pennsylvania on Tuesday and also managed to do a number on the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships. The largest NCAA conference in the country in any division was set to kick off the 2014 postseason yesterday at Kelley Automotive Park in Butler, but all day rain forced the postponement of all four games slated to be played and led to the alteration of the tournament schedule. The tournament will now be a three day, single elimination bracket beginning at 9:30am this morning.

Bloomsburg Huskies (28-18 Overall / 20-8 PSAC)


Damin Muth
(Parkland HS / #142 in PA Class of 2013)

- Muth was named 2nd Team All-PSAC East and the Eastern Division Freshman of the Year. The 5-foot-10 175-poun catcher appeared in 43 games, 41 as a starter and hit a team leading .394 with a team best 29 RBI.

Brady West (North Penn HS)

- West was a major contributor in North Penn's run to a 2013 4A state title. The 5-foot-8, 160-pound outfielder appeared in 43 games for the Huskies, 38 as a starter. He hit .308 with 26 runs scored and swiped 13 bases in 15 attempts.

Bryce Mengel (North Penn HS / #154 in PA Class of 2013) 

- Mengel pitched in three games with two starts. He totaled eight innings in his rookie season with an ERA of 5.62 and an 0-1 record.


Kutztown golden bears (27-19 Overall / 14-14 PSAC)


Mike Kammerer
(Allentown Central Catholic / #229 in PA Class of 2013)

- Kammerer went 2-1 on the hill with a 7.08 ERA in 20.1 innings of work. The 6-foot-3, 165-pound righty appeared in 11 games, 9 of which were out of the bullpen.

Derian Sarlat (Exeter Township)

- Sarlat appeared in 26 games with 13 starts. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound catcher hit .306 with two doubles and five RBI.

Pat Flynn (West-Mont Christian Academy)

 - Flynn's 1-4 record was deceiving. The 6-foot-5, 190-pound righty had a solid 3.68 ERA in 29.1 innings of work and was tied for third on the team with 13 appearances on the year.


mercyhurt lakers (28-12 Overall / 20-8 PSAC)


- The Lakers did not have any freshmen on their roster this season.


Millersville Marauders (34-13 Overall / 21-7 PSAC)


Mitch Stoltzfus
(Pequea Valley / #82 in PA Class of 2013)

- Stoltzfus appeared in four games with one start. He hit .200 with one double and two RBI in his limited action during his rookie campaign.

Chas McCormick (West Chester Henderson / #132 in PA Class of 2013)

- McCormick was a 2nd Team All-PSAC East selection. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound outfielder hit .351 with 25 RBI and scored a team leading 41 runs.

Reid Anderson (New Egypt)

- Anderson saw action in 11 games hitting .286 with one double and an RBI.

Brandon Miller (Ephrata / #30 in PA Class of 2013)

- Miller went 2-4 with a 2.95 ERA, appearing in nine games with seven starts. The 6-foot-4, 195-pound righty worked 36.2 innings and limited opposing hitters to a .248 batting average against.


UPJ Mountain cats (22-22 Overall / 17-11 PSAC)


Brantley Rice
(North Star / #247 in PA Class of 2013)

- Rice went 1-1 with a 3.98 ERA in 20.1 innings of work. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound righty made two starts among his nine appearances and walked just five hitters on the season.

Dillon Boyer (Conemaugh Township / #189 in PA Class of 2013)

- Boyer hit .282 in 39 games, 36 as a starter. The 6-foot, 170-pound IF/OF had 15 RBI and scored 13 runs.

Tyler Black (Bedford)

- Black went 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound righty made three appearances in relief totaling 4.2 innings.

Ken Gault (Baldwin)

- Gault worked 6.1 innings in five appearances out of the bullpen with no record. The 6-foot-5, 205-pound righty completed the regular season with a 5.69 ERA.

Brady Barnhart (Shippensburg)

- Barnhart appeared in five games and hit .200. The 5-foot-10, 225-pound catcher had a hit in five official trips to the plate.


Seton Hill Griffins (36-14 Overall / 22-6 PSAC)


Adam Ferita (Belle Vernon)

- Ferita is a 6-foot, 195-poun outfielder that appeared in six games with one run scored.

Matt Ober (Cumberland Valley / #188 in PA Class of 2013)

- Ober is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound RHP that went 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA in 3.1 innings of work.

Garret Vrbanic (Central Catholic / #230 in PA Class of 2013)

- Vrbanic appeared in 36 games, 28 as a starter. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound IF hit .305 with 12 RBI and 17 runs scored.

Zack Martinelli (Hempfield Area / #109 in PA Class of 2013)

- Martinelli is a 6-foot-2, 195-pound RHP that saw just one inning of action in his first year in a Griffins' uniform.

Tyler Morder (Palmyra)

- Morder is a 5-foot-10, 165-pound RHP that appeared in three games with no record. He started two games and completed the regular season with a 3.38 ERA in eight innings of work.

Justin Zeitler (North Allegheny)

- Zeitler is a 5-foot-11, 170-pound RHP that 5.2 innings over the course of four relief appearances with no runs given up.

Don McWreath (Trinity / #114 in PA Class of 2013)

- McWreath made five appearances totaling 6.2 innings. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound RHP finished the regular season with a 1.35 ERA.


Slippery ROck Pride (25-19 Overall / 14-14 PSAC)


Ty Zimmerman
(Punxsutawney / #160 in PA Class of 2013)

- Zimmerman appeared in 13 games, nine as a starter hitting .267. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound IF had seven RBI and scored five runs.

Carson Kessler (Seneca Valley / #137 in PA Class of 2013)

- Kessler is a 6-foot, 190-pound IF/C hit .333 with seven RBI and seven runs scored in 10 games as a freshman.

Preston Falascino (Our Lady of the Sacred Heart / #96 in PA Class of 2013)

- Falascino saw two-way action during his rookie campaign. The 6-foot, 190-pound LHP/1B hit .273 in 14 games and went 2-1 on the mound in 10.1 innings of work.

Jimmy Divosevic (North Allegheny / #69 in PA Class of 2013)

- Divosevic got three at bats as an outfielder, but made eight appearances on the mound. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound RHP worked 12.2 innings with 16 strikeouts and finished the regular season with an ERA of 2.84.


West Chester Golden Rams (25-17 Overall / 16-12 PSAC)


Anthony Salomone
(Northern York / #70 in the PA Class of 2013)

- Salomone hit .500 in limited action as a freshman. The 6-foot, 190-pound IF/OF appeared in three games.

Robert Knox (Upper Moreland)

- Knox started in all 42 games hitting .280 with 18 RBI and 20 runs scored. The 6-foot, 180-pound outfielder was a perfect 7-for-7 in stolen base attempts.

Andrew Gernert (Kutztown / #94 in PA Class of 2013)

- Gernert is a 5-foot-11, 180-pound IF/RHP that saw most of his time on the mound. He compiled a 1-2 record with a 3.95 ERA in 31.0 innings of work. 

Clay Harwick (Methacton / #84 in PA Class of 2013)

- Harwick appeared in 15 games, seven as a starter. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound catcher hit .143 with a double and an RBI.

Bill Ford (Malvern Prep / #77 in PA Class of 2013)

- Ford is a 6-foot-3, 205-pound catcher that appeared in 20 games and started 16. He hit .108 with 3 RBI in his rookie season.
