PECAN GROVE, TX - What started out as a Texas High School pitching duel finished with some offensive excitement. Kempner right-hander and Texas recruit, Simeon Woods-Richardson, was dominant at shutting down the Travis offense. Woods-Richardson finished the night with 11 strikeouts while giving up 7 hits. His one blemish on the night came in the fifth inning when Jaren Burks led off the inning with a towering blast to left field on an 0-2 count for a 350 foot Home Run.

Travis would scrap for another run scored by Sammy Faltine who stroked a single. Woods-Richardson showed real toughness striking out Cole Turney, Arkansas recruit, with the bases loaded for the second out of the inning. But senior pitcher and cleanup hitter Ryan Rickett, Missouri recruit, worked the bases loaded walk for the winning run.

Rickett was the star of the night, going the distance on the mound, giving up only one run on four hits and striking out twelve. Kempner did not go quietly, as they rallied for a run in the sixth on an RBI triple by junior shortstop Alec Carr, a Texas recruit.

Rickett was able to wiggle out of some real damage in the 7th inning when he struck out catcher Jared Veasey with the bases loaded and no outs. Kempner went for the squeeze bunt with one out, but was unsuccessful when speedster Jeremiah McCollum was back picked at 3rd, for the 2nd out of the inning. Rickett finished the deal and struck out the final hitter to preserve the win for Travis, 2-1.
