Game Preview:  Both programs are off to strong overall starts on the 2024 season and have eyes set on a title run in the ultra-competitive West Catholic Athletic League. Serra enters the game sitting in 1st place with a 4-0 record while Valley Christian is one game back in a tie for 2nd place at 3-1 early in league play. The Padres have 5 regulars in their lineup hitting over .300 and have scored 113 runs in their 15 games this spring while allowing just 27 runs as a pitching staff. Valley Christian for their part have scored 93 runs in 17 games and allowed just 30 from their pitching staff with 4 regulars hitting over .300. Each team has dynamic pitching with the Serra staff featuring a dynamic trio of senior arms who each have ERA's under 2.00 in Wehmeyer, Agosta and Kretsch with rising sophomores Lim and Crawford performing very well on the bump. The Warriors staff from Valley Christian features 4 JR or younger arms who are having electric starts to the 2024 spring with Marsh boasting an ERA of 1.14 while Laubach, Kim and Kasanagotu sit with ERAs under 1.00 and JR Brock Ketelsen is averaging 2 strikeouts per 1 inning pitched with 22 K's over 11 innings. With the number of high quality arms set to toe the rubber in this two game set runs  and offense could be at a premium to come by.
