The Class of 2019 South event took place on Tuesday, June 5th, at Southwest Community College, in Summit, MS. The open event saw prospects from across the state of Mississippi perform in front of several college coaches, and the Prep Baseball Report Mississippi scouting staff.

Today, the Prep Baseball Report Mississippi scouting staff takes a deeper look at infield performances from the June event.

+ Wade Dickard, SS, Porters Chapel Academy, 2019
Average 5-foot-9, 150-pound frame. Right-handed hitter starting from tall setup with loose, bat waggle rhythm in hands. Loads with leg lift landing balanced with short stride. Easy, loose stroke with flat path through the zone that produced an exit velocity 75 mph. Defensively flashed smooth feet in the infield, with soft hands working into a clean transfer out in front of his body, and has a short arm action with accuracy; 76 mph across to first base. Ran a 7.91 60-yard dash.

+ Dawson Flowers, SS, Brookhaven Academy, 2019
Athletic 6-foot-3, 175-pound frame with lean build and room for added strength. Right-handed hitter starting from a tall and slightly open setup with high back elbow set. Long levers at the plate getting extension through the zone with his barrel on an uphill plane that produced an exit velocity 82 mph. Defensively he showed smooth footwork with soft hands, a quick and accurate arm action producing a positional velocity of 77 mph. Ran a 7.83 60-yard dash.

+ Bo Gatlin, SS, Oxford, 2019
Athletic 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame with present strength in build. Showed solid level of athleticism by posting a 6.87 60-yard dash time. Defensively worked through balls with fluidity, showing smooth footwork and solid arm strength with carry on throws, recording a positional velocity of 86 mph from outfield and 84 mph from infield. At the plate, the right-handed hitter showed a loose stroke with feel for the barrel, and bat speed that produced a 96 mph exit velocity.

+ Kran Howell, 2B, North Pike, 2019
Medium build 5-foot-9, 155-pound frame. Right-handed hitter starting from wide base with loose bat waggle rhythm in hands . Loads with a simple shift of weight, working into a slight front arm bar as he works low into his lower half. Path was flat through the zone with occasional length that produced an exit velocity 78 mph. Defender that worked into athletic fielding position with decent footwork and receptive hands. Funneled ball deep as he works into a clean transfer and short high-3/4 arm swing producing a positional velocity of 61 mph. Ran a 7.9 60-yard dash.

+ Mason Kendrick, 2B, Purvis, 2019
Lean 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame, athletic build with room to add strength. Quick twitch athlete that posted a 7.14 60-yard dash. Athletic defender with average hands, quick footwork, and clean exchanges. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with carry and accuracy on throws across, posting a positional velocity of 87 mph from outfield and 86 mph infield velocity. Right-handed hitter that hits from athletic, balanced setup with smooth load and short stride. Gap-to-gap, line-drive approach with fluid rhythm and tempo and a flat, on-plane path with bat speed that posted an exit velocity of 83 mph. Ran a 7.14 60-yard dash.

+ Tyler Thomassie, SS, Centerville Academy, 2019
Average 6-foot, 170-pound frame with room for added strength. Right-handed hitter starting from tall, open setup with bat-waggle rhythm in hands. Loads with a short, abrupt leg-lift. Easy, loose stroke with a flat path through the zone that produced an exit velocity 77 mph. Defensively flashed receptive hands, athleticism in his footwork, a clean exchange, and a short over-the-top arm action producing a positional velocity of 79 mph. Ran a 7.42 60-yard dash.
