Knoxville Rising Stars ID: Pitcher Reports

PBR Tennessee Staff

KNOXVILLE, TN - The Knoxville Rising Stars ID was held on Tuesday, June 20th at Knoxville Catholic High School. This event was an open event that consisted of players from the 2027-2028 classes from Volunteer state, with many making their first appearance at a showcase style setting. Players went through an extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, ran the 60-yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to get numbers and metrics on TrackMan. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing at the event.

Continuing our post-event coverage for this event, we will be releasing our scouting reports from the event. First, we take a look our the scouting reports on all positional players from the event.

pitcher reports

Body: 5-10, 155-pounds. Wiry athletic body that has a well built lower half. Can add size and strength overtime to go along with some twitch in his movements.
Delivery: Slow delivery, gets his body moving down the mound early, simple repeatable mechanics; filled up the zone with FB, showed flashes of a good sharp breaking ball
Arm Action: RH
FB: T72, 69-71 mph. FB showed life at times, was in the zone most the time; FB needs to be moved around the zone consistently to set up offspeed pitches and mix up its look T1740, 1558 average rpm.
CB: 56-59 mph. Cb has good shape, and at times late movement; Sweeps across the zone and usually close to the zone T2074, 1786 average rpm.
CH: 61-65 mph. CH has good movement to it, fades to the armside, good speed difference; Will get good results when it's thrown to LHH and in hitter advantage counts T1457, 1410 average rpm.
ATH: 7.48 runner in the 60. 1.85 and 4.21 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Braylon Bowles, Rabun Gap (GA), 2027
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 5-11, 145-pounds. Slim athletic frame with plenty of room for added size and mass. Long levers with proportional build.
Delivery: Quick delivery, high leg kick- loads his hips forward instead of hinging to create a more athletic load, has good extension to the plate; Has trouble rotating behind his front leg; As he grows and gets stronger through his lower half velocity will improve as well as command
Arm Action: RH. Tight arm action, throws from a over the top slot; Arm moves quick through his slot inconsistent release points- lots of misses low
FB: T76, 73-75 mph. FB plays good down in the zone, creates good angle that will be hard to square up; Needs to be in the zone more often T1804, 1694 average rpm.
CB: 60-63 mph. Had trouble landing the breaking ball for a strike, CB will get good results if its a believable pitch. It has nice shape to it but it's easy to give up on it early since its not close T2151, 1963 average rpm.
CH: 66-66 mph. Had trouble locating CH, needs to be in the zone. Showing that he can locate the CH will allow LHH to stay off his FB T1184, 1184 average rpm.
ATH: 7.53 runner in the 60. 1.92 and 4.25 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Arm Action: RH. Long arm action, throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. Does a good job of hiding the baseball
FB: T75, 71-74 mph. Spotted FB down in the zone, ability to throw to both sides of the plate. Really fille dup the zone with his FB, staying down in the zone and filling up the zone will work best for him T2090, 1897 average rpm.
CB: 63-65 mph. CB has more lateral movement but good depth as well, will get lots of swings out of the zone it; Plays off his FB well comes out of the same slot and tunnels well T1865, 1752 average rpm.
CH: 67-68 mph. CH has good downward action to it, noticeable speed difference; Throwing the CH off the FB will be key as they look the same but the movement and speed difference will cause issues for hitters T1892, 1769 average rpm.
ATH: 7.18 runner in the 60. 1.79 and 4.06 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Kyle Hinch, Stone Memorial (TN), 2027
Positional Profile: 1B/RHP
Body: 5-9, 145-pounds. Thin athletic frame on the smaller side. Can grow into his body with time. Proportional body with quickness present that can look to add size.
Delivery: Slower delivery tempo, picks up his target late, medium leg lift; Stays in line with the plate well, lead leg doesn't block his momentum- with some time in the weight room this should be fixed
Arm Action: RH. Long arm action that comes from an over the top slot, throws from his ear
FB: FB has good angle to it, staying low in the zone will make it hard for hitters to get on plane with it, needs to be able to throw to both sides of the plate to get the most out of his offspeed
CB: CB has big loopy action to it, throws it in the zone enough; WIll be most effective as a pitch to steal strikes with or when you need weak contact
CH: CH at times show some run, keeping it down in the zone and letting the run miss barrels will lead to the most success with this pitch

David Settle, Chattanooga Christian (TN), 2027

Body: 6-1, 130-pounds. Lanky and lean frame with long extremities. Tall with time needed to grow into body. Has plenty of opportunity to add muscle and mass.

Arm Action: RH. Long arm action that comes from behind his body, comes from a 3/4 arms lot
FB: T72, 71-72 mph. Spotted FB up down in the zone, can throw to both sides of the plate, has slight steep angle to it; Will be best if he can mix locations consistently and staying low in the zone T2187, 2051 average rpm.
CB: 60-63 mph. CB shows the right action with good movement, had trouble locating it in the zone; Has a good enough movement profile to get swings out of the zone but needs to prove it will be in the zone first T2294, 2132 average rpm.
SL: 61-63 mph. SL showed good shape, Had flashes of good movement across the zone; Plays off the FB well T2267, 2147 average rpm.

ATH: 8.62 runner in the 60. 2.00 and 4.72 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Shaeffer Sitton, Stone Memorial (TN), 2028

Body: 5-10, 135-pounds. Long frame with present athletic attributes. Some present muscle with twitch. Can add more to his frame and isn't fully developed.
Delivery: High leg lift, good lead leg block, lacks intensity on his delivery- very slow and nonchalant, adding strength and some flexibility will have a big impact on his velo
Arm Action: RH. Long Arm action, Lose upper body; throws from a high 3/4 arm slot
FB: T66, 64-65 mph. FB has good induced vertical break, he backspins the ball well, if he's in the zone consistently he could get a lot of swing and miss- FB plays better than velo indicates T1763, 1718 average rpm.
CH: 60-62 mph. CH was in the zone consistently, plays off the FB well with a different movement profile, adding a breaking ball will get this pitch even better results by adding a pitch moving the opposite way T1839, 1749 average rpm.

Arm Action: RH. Long arm action right after hand break, Slows down on his offspeed pitches; Has good arm speed, 3/4 arm slot
FB: T74, 72-74 mph. FB is backspinned well-High induced vertical, will really play up in the zone, potential to get a lot of swing and miss at the top of the zone. WIll be really effective as a vertical pitcher, instead of trying to go side to side T1942, 1680 average rpm.
SL: 69-71 mph. Throws a hard late breaking ball, will fool a lot of hitters, being more consistent in the zone and thrown behind his FB will produce a lot of swing and miss T1979, 1892 average rpm.
CH: 67-70 mph. CH had good armside fade, will be really effective to LHH, has a unique movement profile compared to his other two pitches; If he has good feel for it then he can throw it to RHH as well T1845, 1595 average rpm.

Arm Action: RH. Arm moves quick and efficiently in his slot, 3/4 arm slot, long arm action after hand break
FB: T73, 70-72 mph. FB has steep angle to it with a hint of arm side run, will get good results if he gets it in on the hands of RHH and moving away from LHH T1664, 1577 average rpm.

KN: 52-56 mph.
