By: Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

The 2017 All-State Game is Tuesday, May 23rd 2017, hosted at Lamar Porter Field, in down town Little Rock, AR.  This game will feature the elite players from all corners of the state of Arkansas. The Game will be a 10 innings game matching up the Top 20 2017 grads vs the Top 20 Underclassman. First pitch is 6:00 PM.  We will highlight players from each roster over the next month, so all attending the game should be familiar with each roster.

Team 2017

Austin Kelly, RHP, Robinson HS, AR
Arkansas recruit. 6-foot-1, 200-pound right-handed pitcher with proportional strength. Compact, controlled delivery, repeats well. Works from a high-¾ slot,  short, quick and clean in the back. Fastball sat 90-91, topped at 92, mostly straight. Showcased overall solid four-pitch mix. Throws changeup aggressively, 82-84 mph, with sinking action. Cutter flashed late, sharp lateral action at 82-84, while curveball ranged between 75-77 with some depth.

Kelly is committed to Arkansas, and is having a strong senior campiagn, leading Robinson High School into the district tournament this week

Team Underclass

2018 Evan Hiatt, LHP, Catholic HS
Hiatt is a 6-foot-3 200-pound left-hander with a large frame and an average build. He works from an H ¾ arm slot with a loose quick arm action. His mechanics are repeated consistently with little effort. He command his fastball at 84-86 mph with late sink. He threw his curveball and changeup with fastball arm speed. His curveball worked 75-77 mph with 1/7 shape and sharp late action. The change up worked 72-74 with arm side run. Overall Hiatt is an advanced pitcher with deceptive athleticism that projects to throw harder as he continues to develop.
Hiatt is committed to Arkansas. He has carried the load for Catholic High School. He has been their best pitcher and hit the middle of their line up consistently all spring. He has the Rockets in the mix for a state tournament appearance and makes them a tough draw in the first round.
