PBR: Why did you choose Grand Valley State University?

Ryan: I chose Grand Valley because the coaches are very committed to getting the best out of their players both on the field and academically, the campus is a great fit for me, and I want to play for a winning program and continue their successful tradition.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Ryan: I was considering Hope College as another baseball option, and University of Michigan just for academics. Grand Valley stood out to me as an amazing place to play and go to school.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you?

Ryan: The coaching staff first saw me play in a game this spring, and came to a few more games after that and we stayed in contact throughout the season.

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable moment.

Ryan: This summer I will be playing on A Green with a few of my high school teammates. My most memorable moment was probably playing in college stadiums around the state and getting experience against good competition.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process?

Ryan: My expectation of the recruiting process was that it would happen faster for me, but I grew  and developed later and had to be patient throughout the past few years until it paid off.

PBR: What were your stats last spring season?

Ryan: Last season I hit .370 with a home run and 10 doubles. I missed about half of the season with a broken hand which was a little hard to recover from.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced?

Ryan: I've faced a lot of really tough pitchers, a couple years ago facing Jackson Lamb from Bedford or Keegan Baar from Hudsonville were probably the best that I've seen.
