Missouri High School Baseball Season Set To Kickoff

After a long nine month layoff, the Troy Tournament kicks off the 2013 high school baseball season, starting Friday at 4:00 at locations around St. Charles County. Highlighting the field for the tournament this year is Preseason No. 1 and defending tournament champions Francis Howell, the overall top seed. Howell is led by seniors RHP Calvin Munson, SS Zac Perkins, UTL Elijah Dilday and LHP Austin Southmayd, as well as junior C Nic Perkins. Preseason No. 2 CBC is the No. 2 seed in the tounament, and are led by seniors C Joe Schrimpf, MIF Mike Venturella and RHPs Dan Herrmann and Robert Plohr, junior 3B Jake Burger, as well as sophomore OF Matt Vierling

Other players to keep an eye on in this tournament include: 3B Steven Deckard and C/MIF Cole Donaldson from Francis Howell North, C Jeff Smugala and SS Drew Quinones from Ft. Zumwalt South, INF Ryan Bainbridge, MIF Ian Nelson, and MIF Storme Cooper from Timberland, OF Brandon Gutzler, RHP Brandon Miller, and LHP Mitchell Plassmeyer from DeSmet, OF Austin Verschoore and C/OF Colin Pecararo from Ft. Zumwalt West, OF Colin Edwards from Seckman, C Wyatt Fones, OF Josh Abegg, LHP/1B Austin Bennett, and LHP Stephen Clark from Wentzville Holt, RHP Justin Dirden from Ft.
