McQuaid Knights 2 - Webster Thomas Titans 1

Senior RHP Henry Buholtz (St. John Fisher) allowed six hits and one run in a complete game victory over Webster Thomas Tuesday at Frontier Field.

McQuaid senior outfielder Vinny Tomei got the Knights started with a 3rd inning infield single.  After advancing to third on a Greg Cullen (Niagara) double, Tomei would come in to score on a balk by Titans starter Jimmy Dawson (St John Fisher).  Buholtz helped his own cause with an RBI ground-out scoring Cullen which would prove to be the game winner.

The Titans put together a threat of their own in the bottom of the third loading the bases with 2 outs, but Buholtz was able to induce 4-3 ground-ball to work out of the jam.  In the bottom of the 5th the Titans pushed across their lone run courtesy of an RBI single from senior infielder Ben Monroe, driving in Joey Coene who had reached with a hit to lead off the inning.  Buholtz worked out of further trouble by starting a slick 1-6-3 double-play to end the inning.

Tomei would once again make his presence felt in the 6th taking away two hits with a nice running catch going back, as well as a diving catch toward the left field line.  Webster would threaten again in the 7th.  Alec Konrad reached on a walk, and pinch hitter Chris Simmons followed with a perfect drag bunt single.  Buholtz would strike out the Titans clean-up hitter to nail it down, stranding the tying and winning runs in scoring position.
