As the 2017 high school season approaches in Virginia and DC, we would like to announce a couple of changes in how we are going to preview the upcoming season.

The month of February will be dedicated to our 2017 season preview. We have already started rolling out Team Previews and will continue that throughout the following month. For our official season preview, we will first look at Player of the Year Candidates and Pitcher of the Year Candidates, followed by our Preseason All-State Teams.

After we have finished looking at the individual players, we will shift to focusing on teams. In previous years, we have done individual previews for each team which eventually led to an overall Power 25. This year, our team previews will be more of a profile on each team with their returning players, key losses, and key newcomers. We will do our season preview by classification, breaking down each classification and highlighting teams and players along with our predictions for the year.

Rankings this year will be making an adjustment for the 2017 season. Gone is the Power 25 and we are going to be breaking down the new Power Rankings into four sections: 1A/2A, 3A/4A, 5A/6A, and Private rankings.

Updated Power Rankings will be released each Monday of the high school season. Along with that we will announce a player and pitcher of the week in the state. Nominations will be taken throughout the week and weekend and announced later in the afternoon on Monday.

As always, your help is greatly appreciated and allows us to do a better job of covering all the bases of prep baseball in Virginia and DC. Please make sure coaches have completed our Season Preview Questionnaire. Also, look for a score report form during the season. Be sure to follow @PBRVirginiaDC with information as well.
