Season Outlook
The 2017 Bombers will look to build on last year’s season when they lost only nine games but fell just short of the state tournament. Eight seniors along with a handful of underclassmen will try to end an eight year absence from the state tournament dating back to 2008.

On the mound, Midwest City will be lead by two seniors.  Last season’s work horse, E.J. Taylor, went 5-2 through 43 innings. Taylor will provide leadership for the staff this year along with Landon Harvey. Harvey, who went 3-0 last season and held opponents to a 2.19 ERA, earn an honorable mention all-conference.  Junior Devan Johnson was big out of the pen last season with 11 appearances and almost a strikeout per inning. Johnson will be a major contributor on the staff this year along with talented freshman Kaleb Bedford.

Offensively, Taylor will likely hit in the middle of the order again this year after batting .383 with 4 HR and 40 RBIs, numbers that earned him a second team all-conference nod. Setting the table for Taylor could be the speedy DeClaudio Irvin and Isaiah Willis with 16 and 17 stolen bases last season respectively. Irving, not just a runner, hit .387 with 9 doubles.  Sophomore Gaven Revene will also make an impact for the offense, getting on base often.

Defensively, like most good teams, the Bombers are strongest up the middle. Senior Cameron Hodges will catch the bulk of the innings and provide savvy and leadership from behind the dish. The athletic Irvin will be a staple at shortstop and he will feed the sure handed Taylor at first base. Newcomer Bedford could log some innings in the infield as well.  Harvey will man center field and lead a quick group of outfielders.
