Toronto Fall ID: Quick Hits

Earlier this week, the PBR Ontario staff hosted the annual Toronto Fall Open ID over two days at Connorvale Park in Etobicoke, Ontario. This event featured over 105 players from the across the province in the 2024 - 2027 classes and allowed our staff an opportunity to get an in-depth look at the players, as well as collect updated metrics via our tech partners TrackMan and Swift Performance.
Earlier this week, we broke down the top measurable data performers from the event with our Statistical Analysis and Pitching Data Dive and Positional Data Dive. Now, we conclude our post-event coverage within this Quick Hits article as we take a look at six of the top performers from the event with scouting notes and video.

Devan Madore SS / 2B / SCC , ON / 2024Rankings StateRank: 32 / POS: 7
2024 SS Devan Madore put together one of the better rounds of batting practice at Connorvale Park. He posted a 96.7mph exit velocity, which was the highest of the event. Lived mostly to his pull-side, hit multiple deep fly balls throughout his round, created loft with the swing and swung with intent and to do damage in the box. Madore, a standout at the Northeast Senior Games this summer, has only continued to improve on his game. An uncommitted 2024 who’s game continues to improve.

Christopher Nobrega OF / Upper Canada College, ON / 20252025 OF Christopher Nobrega had one of the top all around days we saw at the Toronto Fall Open ID. Compact, athletic frame at 5-foot-8, 165-pounds. Christopher started off his day running a 6.96 60-yard. In the outfield, shows easy tracking and works through the ball cleanly. At the dish, he was able to consistently hit the ball with hard contact, mostly to the big part of the field, posting a max EV of 93mph. A 2025 who’s game continues to trend upwards throughout the year.

Nolan Bigras RHP / MM Robinson, ON / 20252025 RHP Nolan Bigras one of the better arms at the Toronto Fall Open ID. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound, RHP works out of a ¾ arm slot and showed feel for his 3-pitch mix. Kills the spin on the change up, with an average total spin of 1736rpm and there is fading movement to it. The slider showed good shape to it and was able to throw it for strikes. A 2025 to keep an eye on as he progresses and fills out.

Ko Abe 3B / RHP / Leaside, ON / 2027Rankings StateRank: 23 / POS: 2
2027 INF/RHP Ko Abe put together a strong showing at Connorvale Park. At the plate, Ko creates elevation with his swing and lives to his pull side and up the middle. Posted a max EV of 88.2mph. On the bump, he features a 2-pitch mix of a FB and CB, with the CB showing a top-to-bottom look to it. In the infield, works through the ball well and utilizes clean footwork. At 6-foot, 150-pounds, with tools that project, there is a ton of upside in his game. A standout at JFG’s this summer, Ko is a 2027 grad that will be an intriguing follow with added strength gains.

Daniel Zayas RHP / RHP / Cardinal Carter, ON / 20262026 RHP Daniel Zayas, continues to grow and add size. Now standing at 6-foot, 180-pounds, Zayas worked downhill, with a long arm-action. Flashed his 3-pitch mix in his bullpen, the curveball has a vertical look to it and had a 2502rpm avg spin-rate. Flashed his slider as well, which is a tight spinner(2520rpm avg) and had an average HB of -13.6in on it. A 2026 grad who has continued to show improvements throughout the year and will be an interesting follow as he develops.

Bryce Cross OF / Christ The King , ON / 20242024 OF Bryce Cross is an athletic LHH at 6-foot-3, 185-pounds. Offensively, starts in an open stance with a toe-tap stride in the lower-half. Creates elevation with his bat path and posted a peak EV of 90.3mph, with a peak distance of 330ft. In the outfield, Bryce showed an accurate arm and good tracking skills. Posted a max velo of 84mph from the OF. An uncommitted senior, that put together one of the better performances we saw at the event.
