OUTLOOK:

The Bloomington South Panthers are coming off a 16-10 season in 2013 where they finished 5-2 in conference play. Head Coach Phil Kluesner's team returns a talented group of seniors this spring that expects to contend for a conference crown as well as a sectional championship. Leading the way for the Panthers in 2014 is High Point commit Gage Rogers, the No. 9 ranked prospect in Indiana's class of 2014 rankings.  The senior 3B/P hit .370 in 2013 with 6 2B and 23 RBI.  The 6-foot-2, 180 pound RHP will play a key role on the mound as well with a fastball that's been up to 91 mph.  Fulfilling the catching duties this spring is will once again be senior Joe Crider, a three year starter.  The 6-foot-4, 235 pound Crider is committed to Kaskaskia College and is currently ranked No. 80 in Indiana's 2014 class.  Crider will be a key contributor offensively after hitting .330 with 2 HR, 6 2B, and 15 RBI last season. Senior 1B/P Isaac Barrow returns to the Panthers for his final season.  The three year starter is a solid defender and pitcher and should also contribute at the plate.  The 6-foot-3, 250 pound left handed hitter batted .328 last spring with 7 2B, 3 HR, and 22 RBI.  Another three year starter, 2B A.J. Hartman, will once again play a key role defensively for South. The 5-foot-10, 165 pound Hartman finished his Junior year hitting .300 with 5 2B and 18 RBI.  Two other seniors coach Kluesner expects to contribute are OF Jordan Parrott and OF/P Rex McHaley.  Parrott, a 5-foot-9, 155 pound lead off hitter batted .315 with 5 2B, 12 RBI, and swiped 10 bags last season.
