As we prepare for our 2014 high school preseason coverage, we are going to take a quick glance at teams from across the state.

OUTLOOK:

Head Coach Richard Hurt and the Bloomington North Cougars finished the 2013 season 26-5 overall and won a Conference Indiana and sectional title.  The 2014 Cougars return six positional starters and three arms with a talented senior class. On the mound Coach Hurt will look to seniors Dylan Stutsman, Pete Allen and Zach Cleaver for the bulk of the innings.  Stutsman was 8-0 last spring with a 1.06 ERA and struck out 58 hitters.  Allen, ranked No. 85 in Indiana's class of 2014 rankings, went 7-1 with a 1.61 ERA and 61 K's. Cleaver was 1-1 on the mound as a Junior with a 2.85 ERA.  The Cougars will also look to Junior Dominik Duke and sophomores John Inman and Jack Smith for contributions on the mound this season. Allen and Stutsman will also see time at 3B and should contribute at the plate.  Last year Allen hit .348 while Stutsman finished with a .357 BA.  Leading the way for the Cougars up the middle defensively is senior SS Blake Richardson (.393 BA) and senior 2B Max Williams (.312 BA). Fulfilling the catching duties will once again be Bryce Aldridge, the No 58 ranked prospect in the 2014 class. In 2013 Aldridge hit . 344. Expect the Cougars to once again compete for a conference and sectional crown this season.
