OUTLOOK

The Lafayette Central Catholic Knights enter their second season in class 2A.  The Knights won five consecutive 1A state championships before moving up to 2A last season due to the IHSAA Tradition Factor.  Despite the move up in class, Head Coach Tim Bordenet's squad still had a successful 2014 season reaching the Semi-State before losing to eventual 2A state champ Wapahani 2-1 on a wild pitch. The Knights return a strong Junior class led by RHP/SS Jackson Anthrop.  Anthrop hit .304 last year as a sophomore with 33 Runs, 6 2B and a record of 8-2 on the mound with a 1.89 ERA.  Junior OF Adam Lovell will be a big piece to the Knights' offense this spring.  He hit .344 with 29 Runs and also stole 11 bases last season.  Bradyn Bordenet, a 6-foot-3, 220 pound Junior 1B/RHP, returns after hitting .384 with 22 RBI, 8 2B and an OBP of .520 in 2014. Bordenet was also 2-0 on the mound with a 2.21 ERA last spring.  C/DH, Coy Cronk is a big, physical 6-foot-5, 250 pound Junior that will provide some offense this season.  Cronk hit .297 with 33 RBI, 5 HR and 9 2B as a sophomore.  Senior right-hander Nate Wiercioch provides depth on the mound.  As a Junior, Wiercioch went 3-0 with a 1.54 ERA in 22.67 IP.  Athletic senior Dylan Kiracofe (OF/3B/RHP) will play his first season for the Knights this spring.  A transfer, Kiracofe has the talent to play multiple positions on the field. He has a strong arm in the field and on the mound to go along with good foot speed.  Like most years, the Knights should once again finish atop the Hoosier Conference standings and make another deep run in the state tournament.
