Chalmers – The Lafayette Central Catholic Knights traveled to take on the Frontier Falcons on Monday night. LCC jumped out to an early lead and did not look back in a convincing win. The top four hitters in the lineup combined for nine hits in the game and that was more than enough for the LCC pitching.

The Knights offense got started right away Jackson Anthrop walked to start the game and after moving to second on passed ball Adam Lovell singled him in for the first run of the inning. Evan Kennedy followed and hit a line drive over the right center field fence for a two run homerun. Pete Metzinger would add another run later in the inning with sacrifice fly.

The LCC offense wouldn’t let up in the second inning coming through with four more runs. Bradyn Bordenet and Nigel Hensley had the big hits in the inning. Bordenet singled in the first run of the inning to push the lead to 5-0. With the bases loaded Hensley singled in two more runs, and the ball got by the left fielder allowing the runner from first to score, extending the lead to 8-0.

LCC starter Jackson Anthrop gave up his only run, an unearned run, in the bottom of the second inning.  With a runner on third and one out a ball caught in right field was thrown home to hold the runner. However, the ball got away from the catcher allowing Tyler Prior, who singled to lead off the inning, score as the ball went to the backstop. Anthrop would get the win throwing four innings allowing just two hits and striking out two.

LCC tacked on two more runs in the third and one in the sixth. Lovell singled in the first run of the third inning and Kennedy had his second extra base hit of the game, a double scoring Lovell. Bradyn Bordenet put LCC up 11-1 in the sixth with a solo homerun to centerfield.

Down 11-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Frontier was down to their last out, before Prior extended the game. With a runner on first and two outs, Prior drove a ball over the left centerfield fence for a two run homerun cutting the deficit to 11-3.

Hensley would come in to close out the game in the bottom of the seventh. After striking out the first two batters, a single and a hit by pitch put two runners on base with two outs. Catcher Coy Cronk ended the game picking off the runner at first and giving Lafayette Central Catholic a 11-3 win.
